I was told 2-3 weeks initially if it was a fix vs replacement and now it’s 3-4 weeks. Bet they won’t touch it for 3.5 weeks even though I told them I didn’t want to drop it off until the work would be started so i could save on rental car cost.

My poor baby is going to be cold sitting outside for 4 weeks. She is typically in the garage at night.

I am worried about trade in or resale value down the road with a fixed frame though. Guess i just have to keep the truck forever.
Definitely better than a frame replacement in my mind though. So many things could go wrong after disconnecting and reconnecting.

Guessing with it being a fix that it will not be a total.

will it show on title or carfax report ? not liked the frame will be bent after the truck is fixed. It will be back to normal. It's not like you are selling it with a bent frame. keep all receipts.

I am guessing because its going through insurance that i will show up on carfax that it was in an accident. Not show who reports it or to what detail will show up on there.

Found this from a Toyota dealership. It is dated 2013 though.

Bent the frame on my Hyundai, body shop repaired it with some high tech frame equipment to original specs. Drove perfect until I traded in on my Tundra

Good to know there is a Toyota document saying there shouldn’t be a loss in value with a fixed frame by reputable shop.

Now the body shop called and said their frame machine is broke. May be a few days before it gets back in working order. Said that since I’m paying for my rental car myself I can go ahead and pick up the truck and return the rental car until the machine is fixed.

Sorry that it’s going to take longer to fix, but at least you can return the rental for a little bit.

Maybe 2 weeks to get the part and get machine fixed. He said it was an I-Beam. Maybe part of what is used to stretch the frame out. Alot of stress on those parts with all the pulling forces.

Called a few other places and they are atleast 2 weeks out for an estimate and Apirl-May before they can get them in for repair.

Yeah, I got a few things going on lately. I'd rather be busy fixing truck, maybe some modding.

    The estimate is in. $5,811.74.

    $3,000.48 in parts
    30 hrs in body labor
    7.8 hrs in paint labor
    4 hrs in frame labor
    7.8 hrs in paint supplies???

First estimate without frame work was ~4,500. Guessing this one with framework wasn’t much higher was because the are the preferred body shop of my insurance company so the probably provide them a discount.

This new estimate doesn’t include new hitch and ball. Doesn’t include paint of tailgate that the first quote showed. Will have to question insurance on these items.

Interesting letter in the mail today from the office of the district attorney. Their office has a criminal case against the person that hit me charging them with careless driving and failure to display proof of insurance. They enclosed a victim impact statement. On there I get to list out and injuries or losses and post a claim for restitution.

Excited to potentially get back what I have spent of my own money on this whole ordeal.

Sorry this happened man. I would seriously try to recoup money on your resale losses. It will hit Carfax and the value will go down significantly. I’ve seen it first hand. You may end up keeping forever but life has no guarantees.
