so i put the carriage bolt through the tabs then plate and then put the nut on? they dont attach anywhere to the crossmembers, correct?

I was reading the instructions and couldnt figure out why it calls for installing the carriage bolts facing down .. :l

correct. Don't attach them to the cross member. Just to the front plate. That front plate will bolt to the cross members with 5 bigger bolts.
Keep them loose. you will attach the tabs at the end.

I went with steel since it was cheaper and would be stronger. Installed a few weeks ago and am pretty happy. Went down to Baja for Thanksgiving and hit a few trails from the 1000. Heard it smash a few rocks and didn’t even scratch it. Glad I made the purchase.

Just ordered the full set of steel skids. Pretty excited to get them. How long did it take for you to get them?

Don’t really remember the exact days it took but definitely was very fast shipping and got email updates right away. Arrived 2 days earlier than the original estimated arrival date so I was happy! I’d say it was just about one week total.

I'd love to see more comments on this. My first ever truck is a used one and it does not have any undercarriage protection whatsoever. I'd really appreciate more pictures and recommendations.

I installed the one piece engine skid (steel) from RCI recently. Haven't hit anything yet, but it's super solid and went on without a problem. There are some pics on my build thread. Next Black Friday, I'll probably add their transmission skid when they have their sales going on.

Here you go. Went with steel as it was cheaper, you can't really see the cool looking aluminum and I wasn't much worried about weight.

    Here's RCI vs stock TRD

That one piece RCI plate sure is good looking. Was going to hold off on this but this thread convinced me otherwise. Just placed an order with @ToyTec Lifts for the steel one.

Diff skid didn't change. They only did front because the 2 pieces caused a lot of issues (cost) for shipping. They will improve on the gas tank skid I believe.

This thread motivated me to go put mine on. Get to fist bolt and the dealer over tightened it when they did my oil change...DDD0D54B-22C6-49D8-BC3A-29F2DC041A5C.jpg

Second bolt I go to do and can already tell it’s gonna be the same result. This is my life...lol
