RCI cat protection is coming

I called RCI today to order the cat guards. He said they painted some today. And mine should be shipped in about a week. I know if someone wanted to steel my cats, they would do it. But I’m hoping when they see what they gotta go through, they’ll say “Oh HE!! NO” and go to somebody else’s car/truck. I wouldn’t want other peoples cats stolen. But just leave my truck alone.

 

Is the sale over?? I tried using the discount code and its not working.

 

He said Memorial Day sale is over end of today. I don’t know when the 22tundra code for 15% discount ends.

 

I lucked out, I guess. Ordered the whole shitaree kit from them yesterday without even knowing about a discount till the fella mentioned it…. I’d called to see if they had faster availability on aluminum or steel skids, rather than ordering online.
Told 2-3 weeks for both skids and cat guards.

 

@RCIoffroad Is there an aluminum version? ok to add the steel cat guards to an aluminum transfercase skid plate?

 

Better be ok…. That’s what I have I have on the way. Aluminum skids and steel cat guards. Can’t see any reason why it won’t be fine.
Won’t really notice in mine, as it’ll all be black.

 

RCI did answer that question a couple of weeks ago. They said no issues since they are powdercoated. I would have to find that post.

 

It's funny that you mention the build quality. There is some discussion in the 4Runner forum on this. Talon evidently changed their design in the bends...something about removing the slots and now they are having cracks and tears. Those guys are pissed.

 

I ordered the steel guards and the aluminum skid (both are powdercoated). The skid came with the holes pre-drilled, and I should have the cat guards tomorrow if FedEx would stop dropping the ball.

 

I have the Talon cat plate on my son’s Tacoma. Not impressed with the design or the build quality.

 

I hear ya. That's why I'm trying to find something else for the kids 2006 4Runner.

Yup, at least when I voiced my complaints and corrected his design, he did offer me a full refund. I already had it on and did not feel like going through the trouble of removing it.

 

Just received tracking number for my cat shields from RCI, ordered on May 16th. I'm sure everyone else here will received shortly.

Shit! Me too. Well, I have confirmation that a shipping label was created. No update yet that it’s been picked up or an eta for delivery. Should update soon, I bet.

Ordered mine on 5/31. They quoted 2-3 weeks, so I did t have high hopes. Sounds like they’ve got a pile to send out now.

Mine are on the way- I have steel tranny guard and will have to drill. Any reason these wings can’t be welded on?

 

None that I can think of. Based on the 4Runner plates, removing the wings with the plate installed would be a total PITA - easier to drop the whole plate. The only downside might be messing up the powdercoating to weld - assuming you didn't get unfinished steel. Even then, it can be painted and will not be visible.

I called to confirm, because the tracking info was a little different than I’d hoped. It shows that the front and rear powder coated skid plates I’ve ordered are shipped, and I assumed everything was in the box.

called to confirm. Only skids are in box. They’ll be here in a couple days. Cat guards are “cut and bent. Waiting on powder coat. About a week.”

I ONLY ordered the cat guards (as I already have the engine + tranny skids) and my package arrived today! (however, I am not sure what is in it...could just be hardware?!?! who knows)..I'll check as soon as I can.
