My 2015 crewmax Has a rattle on start up, especially worse and rattles longer in cold weather. The rattle lasts typically for a minute followed by a click and no more rattle for 30 seconds or so then another click followed by more rattling. And it sounds like the rattle is a result of something in the engine turning on, the clicking noise before and after the rattle seems to me like something turning on and off. Anyone else experience this? I would love to resolve it, I take great care of my truck and it sounds like it’s falling apart until that rattle stops.

Thank you! At least I know now, not looking forward to the fix but glad to eliminate all the guessing. One of the links led to this YouTube video and that’s exactly what my 2015 5.7L sounds like. Noticed around 80,000 and getting louder around 130,000.

Thicken up your oil use...5w30 if you aren't in a too cold of outside parking...I run 0w20 in winter and 5w30 the rest...MUCH quieter in all regards...

Welcome to the worst Tundra issue.

I have it also, its bad.

I have tried different oil weights and additives, makes no difference and can even be worse.
Even my beloved Lucas oil stabilizer did not fix it.

Save up the $2k+ and have it fixed once you can't take it anymore.

I am letting mine go for as long as I can.
When enough people point it out or complain about it, I'll eventually let some master tech crack open my pristine engine to fix it right.
Once I find a trustworthy master tech that has done this before that is.
