Yes! Someone who likes the old fashion drive train like myself. I just bought the SR5 and put better wheels on it. I can't figure out all the gadgets on this thing I couldn't stand anymore to figure out. Also second on the drivers side handle, what the hell Toyota!

All the buttons on the steering wheel and touch screen stereo. I don't need a special key fob to cuddle at night or push button starts. You seem like you really need validation the the Raptor it so awesome and all other trucks suck. If you think that great, no need to dump on other brands just because they're "not a Raptor". The fact that you need people to agree with your opinion is sad and a little weird, in my humble opinion.

I don't want a vehicle that relies on electronic gizmos & gadgets to appease public opinion, I want toughness & reliability with the fewest amount of onboard distractions possible.

I have repeatedly said I like Tundra BECAUSE of the low tech. Maybe one of those gadgets on the Raptor can help you pay attention.

Superior is in the eye of the beholder. Because you think that does not mean I think that or Joe Blow thinks that. I think low tech is superior for my needs because I'm not going to Baja anytime soon and don't need high tech gadgets to feel like a man.

I'd rather have my low tech SR5 with the great reliability and money in the bank than the ugly ass over priced high tech raptor. Some people need status quo I guess.

$120k is nothing compared to some supercars. This is a unique truck. They also make a 6x6 for like $350k.

I'm with the lower tech crowd. While I do like some tech features, in general I think that they are part of the new generation of phone-watchers.

Complaining about the fact that a truck doesn't have a keyless entry for the tailgate? Really? Is it that hard to use a key and handle? Or even better - just reach up and over the bed and get what you want out of the back of the truck? I realize that not everyone is as tall as I am, but still - not that hard to get into the back of a pickup truck.

Push-button start? Is it really "superior" to a key? What do you save, like 0.5 seconds to get your rig started?

No 360 camera. I have a backup camera on mine because the wife insisted on it. She still gives me grief because I don't really use it. I prefer mirrors.

Horrible gas mileage? The numbers I see on fuelly for the Raptor look pretty much the same as what I get in my Tundra. Just the plain jane 3.5L F150 does look like it gets about 1 mpg better than my Tundra. Advertised numbers are BS.

Plastic everywhere. That I will agree on - I miss the days of metal everywhere. But I will take plastic over leather/pleather/woodgrain. I can't stand leather in vehicles.

Horrible stereo. Yep. They do suck.

Plus, newer trucks just look goofy, IMO. Ford hasn't made a decent looking half-ton since 1996. I grew up a Ford guy. My favorite era was the 70's. I'll gladly take one of those. Manual crank windows, manual transmission. Lucky if you had a stereo. 270 Air Conditioning. Dangit - now I want to go get one again. Wife won't like another project vehicle, though.

EDIT: This is not my truck. I had one fairly close to it in high school. Also had a '79 F150, and a '69 Bronco.

Very well said. We had one of those trucks at the Golf course I worked at in the late 70's, it was a tough truck... I liked it. At my age I WANT AT, AC, PS, PB, PW, PM, but I really don't NEED anything else except reliability.

No your confusing that with the TRD PRO “insert model”

People will say that the Raptor is “overpriced.” But you are clearly not the target market for said vehicle.

What is overpriced are the TRD Pro model Toyota’s. Now those are a joke.

He already has one. I wonder why he also has such an inferior dinosaur of a Tundra as well.

Without slinging poop all over each other, there is no possibility Toyota can appease several generations of pickup truck drivers without some compromise AND make the margins they need for profit and sustainability.

The Raptor.. For all its brawn and its vulnerability, is a niche vehicle, purposely designed. The design, when taken out of its element can be ridiculed till the cows come home.

    The Tundra, and it's siblings for that matter is NOT specialized. It's overbuilt and underproduced, underreported, and understated. It's filling the void Toyota owners have asked for. L O N G E V I T Y. P R E D I C T A B I L I T Y.

With this mantra, we can modify it with little to no difficulty, overload it, even abuse it.

Domestic competition places salesman in top leadership positions within the big three. Sales folks are all about profit, product turnover, stock performance, etc.

Toyota simply doesn't subscribe to this management philosophy. They are engineers before salesman. Honda is similar.

Ford needs to stop saving twenty cents on inferior parts and share the design and production mantra of the East. Chevy and Dodge arent learning from their mistakes either. My buddy's 2018 F150 already had a HVAC issue and was on back order.

I get the addiction to automation and technology. I've enjoyed it, only to be burned by it. I don't trust it. I had a Tahoe and a Yukon fall apart from the Inside out. I'm tired of gizmos breaking and costing a small fortune to repair. Make em reliable and you'll get my attention. Make your trucks reliable too.

I simply don't have a practical use for an expensive Raptor. Neat trucks, just not a good fit. Need the boring predictably of my Tundra.

I like the looks of the Raptor in the way I like the looks of a military Humvee , but that's where my like for these vehicles stops. I am not the least bit interested in owning either one of them, but I do appreciate their capabilities.

You all are too funny

Sorry guys I've been a Ford guy all my life, Having owned a variety of suv's and trucks from Ford from 2007 and up, F150, F250,
F350 and Expedition. The F150 were gassers, The F250-F350 were diesels. My trucks and suv were serviced by Ford mechanics through my possession. Out of all those Fords, the least problematic was the 07 Expedition. I will never own a Ford diesel again, the 7.3 was somewhat reliable. The 6.0 had to be lemoned, after it leaked oil all over a $60k paver driveway. The ford dealer ended eating that one.
The new ecoboost motors are nothing but headaches, most of our trucks have been transferred out and traded in on something else.

Sad to say Ford can make a good product if they so desired, but instead, they give us plastic, cheap interiors and hefty price tag.

Sorry spending $70-80K on a pickup or suv from Ford is plain stupid!
Not when you go buy a german or Japanese counterpart for the same money. That have true leather interiors, more safety, and all the electronic gizmos.

I bought my Tundra in 15, I've had zero troubles with this truck....

    Just my 02.:mudding:

In my opinion they are underproduced when compared to their Tacoma. Toyota also underproduces compared to Ford.

Plastic interior parts are a fact with Toyota. Cheaper or plastic parts and cost cutting on all domestic trucks engines has most definitely impacted reliability.

Toyota screwed up on frames and the seals. The vast majority however have a higher reliability rating from a plethora of automotive and enthusiast publications.

You completely missed the point there. All I'm saying is Ford has really gone up in pricing. Who would of thought that they would sell a Ford raptor for 70K and people would buy it. A tundra Pro, at least in my area is being sold around 60-70K by the time your dealing with dealer markups.
$70K buys a lot of car or truck from other brands. Im sorry but for $70K on a Ford, Im expecting premium items, not the mediocre crap that Ford deems is good enough for us. If your worried about resale then, your kinda SOL with the Fords anyways. You will have better luck with that the Tundra. We recently sold our tacoma pickup truck, we picked it up used with 10K miles on it, and sold it with 167K miles on it. I paid $15K cash for it at the time an SR5 with a manual trans. all we've done are routine maintenance. we ended selling that truck for $12K.
The expedition, was fully decked out at $56k, and i had numerous issues with under warranty and under extended warranty. My transmission blew at 99k miles. Ford decided not to fix it. Instead of dealing with lengthy brawl with lawyers and Ford. My dealership who I've built a long relationship through the years stepped up to the plate to help me out. The best value I could get for my ford expo was a poor amount of $8k. So no thank you Ford products.

Either way good luck on your Ford, (you really need to be on top of the service people at your dealership) and enjoy your Tundra :fistbump:

Why did you put Raptor = A bad ass truck first if you are in Tundras forum
