As I patiently await my 2019 TRD Pro to arrive Ive been weighing my other options and the only one I really like is the Raptor. More than I want to spend and prefer the look of the Tundra anyway..
What I find interesting is there are so many new Raptors for sale. On ebay there are 88 2018s listed and poop-ton on cars.com.. I looked on Manheim and 35 are listed on the OVE..
I know Ford makes a crazy profit on them, has the popularity died off? Or is Ford just flooding the market ?

I think it is a beautiful truck. But just can’t see spending that kind of money...especially on a Ford. If I was going to spend that kind of money it would be on a diesel.

I like the look of the raptor, but the price and reliability says no.

The base model Raptors are comical.. the radio screen looks to be about 4 inches.

I know people complain about the Tundra interior, but the Raptors looks super cheap... something about the plastic they use makes it look very low end.

My friend has a 2017 Raptor. Its fast, but its not my cup of tea. He's had problems with it after putting a Corsa exhaust on it. He ended up putting stock pipes back on it. Personally i would never pay $70k + for a Ford vehicle. While it does have some nice options, its over priced. Im Toyota all the way.

Combination of Ford making a ton of them and dealerships having a $10,000 markup on them means lots of them on lots.

It’s a Ford!! They are very unreliable. I met a dude at Pep Boys the other day with a 2018 Raptor. He had them do an oil change and rotation. So, I asked him why didn’t he go to the dealership to get the service done on the new truck? He told me that Ford actually charges extra for service and they don’t automatically give a free service period like Toyota does.

So, I asked him the age of him Raptor and he told me 4 months. I have hen asked him how he liked his new Raptor and he told me that it’s his second Raptor and he wasn’t as hawith the new design and all. He said that he pulls a boat and other trailers with the new Raptor and the truck struggles. He hated the new 3.5L EcoBoost V6. He said that she he truck labors heavily with a trailer or load. His check engine light comes on constantly. But, the primary reason why he was at PepBoys getting his oil changed and not at Ford, was because the Raptor burns lots of oil, and it’s cheaper to get it done there.

    Stay clear of Fords!!

You guys are funny. The dudes over on the Ford forums are probably talking about how Tundras suck bc the cam shaft tower seals leak and the beds are squeaky and there's no grab handle on the driver's side.

I think the Raptors are sick, just way too expensive for me. I have no idea why so many are available, if that even is a lot. I had a Ford and loved it, I just love my new Tundra more :D

Raptors are like 7’ 380lbs linemen on s football team. Of course, they look great as rookies and they may impress for the 1st year or two. But, that’s about it. They go downhill from there on....until they are cut from the team and forced to retire.

The Tundras are like the Quarterbacks on the team. They are heavily criticized every Monday morning, but, they are the leaders of the team. They lasts forever and can never be replaced by anyone else on the team. :D:benchpress::infantry:

The Raptor looks cheap, and feels cheap. I drove one a while back and was not impressed at all. I was a bit shocked at what a piece of crap it was considering the price tag.

It is literally the biggest sucker deal in the auto industry.

I went and test drove a 2018 Raptor today. I always loved the sports looking Raptor, one of the reason i bought my first pickup truck which is current 14 Tundra. (Working to build a Raptor/Pro beater)

Raptor is a sporty truck with tons of tech and feature s that Tundra lacks, except my Tundra doesn't cause i have already added lot to it. Suspension is awesome and doesn't feel like you are driving a pick up truck. Its more of an suv feel which I dont know if its good or bad for some.

Power, v6 turbo is weak. My v8 supercharged 4:88 gears Tundra can beat the hell out of the Raptor. They shouldnt have a v6 in Raptor to begin with.

Gearing was another issue. Shift wasn't as smooth. More jerky could be the engine was working too hard? (I did test drive like a sportscar)

Overall, it has the looks and features but its impotent w the curent engine. I was disappointed with the performance and I made sure salesman know about that. He told me to wait till they come up with 7.0 v8 Raptor in 2020. Lets see if it happens.

Reliability? That I dont know until I own one.
    Price is a joke.

I mean, a supercharger and mid travel suspension on a new tundra is still cheaper.

If the Tundra didn't exist, yeah, I'd get an older first gen. Raptor because I can't afford a brand new one. Fortunately the Tundra does exist so I don't have to deal with the big blue oval headache.

This!!! I don't care if the new one with the Eco-boost V6 is faster, it sounds like shit. Plus there is always a supercharger option on the 1st gen Raptor, google Rousch Raptor, that is a pretty damn sick truck!!

Also I went to the Ford website, spec'd a Raptor out how I'd like it, crew cab, short bed(the normal 6'6" bed isn't available on the Raptor, which is bullshit IMO). Most of the options checked, I skipped out on gaudy graphics, tailgate overlay and sunroof, it was $68,000. No Incentives like normal F150's. IMO not a really compelling value option lol. Awesomely capable truck, but at $68k its a vanity/bling-mobile truck.

You can get a really nice work truck for the same price. Diesel F350, 4wd, crew cab, single rear wheel, long bed, Lariat trim with leather and a bunch of damn options(like radar cruise control) for about $69k before incentives. Dealers will dicker a bit on heavy duty trucks, I doubt the same is for Raptors.

Bought my Tundra at the Ford lot. While the paperwork was being done I got to walk around the Raptor. It looks cool but for the price, they should throw in a Fusion.

I have a 2010 first generation Raptor I bought new. It has 140k on it and the only thing I have done is change the brakes. My son drives it to school until he goes to Alabama next year and I will get him a Taco. I am keeping the truck as my "play toy". I like my TRD Pro, but it is still not a Raptor. The Toyota is a truck, the Raptor is a sports car. I have not been in a new raptor, but have heard them and they do sound like my son says a "ricer".

That's not really a lot of Raptors for sale. Ford only produces 15k to 20k per year. Toyota builds over 100k per year. I wouldn't call those numbers flooding the market. Not really sure how that would help you decide which vehicle to buy.

If you’re purchasing a 1/2 ton pick up, I don’t see how you can go wrong with the Tundra for what it offers. Prior to the early 2000’s all of us that owned a 1/2 ton pick up, we drove a GM, Ford or Dodge. Because of the Big Three’s lack of whatever you wanna call it, I’m assuming most of us were tired of dealing with all the bs these brands are known for when it comes to reliability. Toyota rolled the dice and now sells a product that’s stealing market share from these guys because of their lack of attention to building a quality and long lasting 1/2 ton. Not saying you won’t find an F150 or Chevy 1500 that has 200,000 on the odometer, but I think a lot of Tundra owners feel more comfortable putting their money towards something they have confidence in being a reliable vehicle for years to come. No awards for MPG for the Tundra, okay true. But how many other half tons have a 4:30 rear axle? If Toyota went with a 3:55 or similar and put a stupid air damn on the front that almost touches speed bumps at the mall parking lot, the MPGs would be higher. And for my final point, can you say the word resell? Wait for your Tundra:)
