This is what happens a lot of times with civil cases.

A little off topic, but my realtor told me one of her old coworkers was sued for 1.00 due to what was said about the clients (not sure what, but it was a no no). Her legal fees were 20k and it was a simple case. They did it to prove a point and not the money.

Yeah, i hate hearing civil cases...almost ALL about the money, whereas in criminal court, it's crime and punishment (except for RLHOK :(. He got robbed and no punishment...

The difference between the criminal mind and us is just that, working for what we earned...

Just want to play devil’s advocate here. I don’t think it’s usually a case of law enforcement being stupid, or lazy. They want to take criminals off the street wherever possible. The problem is that they have enough experience to know if they will or will not get a conviction. They may know damned well someone is guilty, but know that they can’t provide enough evidence to get a jury to rule in their favor. I obviously don’t know all the details on this one, but I’d imagine that’s the scenario they’re looking at here. They have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, and they’ve probably determined that they can’t. As flawed as it is, we need this system in place.

Now, that’s not to say I don’t have a problem with these guys getting away with this. I’m a 100% on the side of keeping the scales balanced. I’m very intolerant of injustice. If someone gets away with something they did to me, it eats me up until they get what’s coming. I’m well known for my tendency to hold a grudge. If I were in @RLHOK ’s shoes, I’d be just as pissed.

I’m not arguing with you. Like I said, I don’t know all the details, and didn’t remember them from your original post. I was just trying to understand how they came to their conclusions. I don’t understand why a DA would decline to prosecute if evidence was sufficient.

We are good buddy, as for the why, your guess is as good as mine, I have no idea, I do have a theory but that's all it is, speculation, I did hint at it in my conversation yesterday and the subject was quickly deflected...

For what it's worth...I think our current jury system sucks. Case in point...does OJ ring a bell?
