20180508_210426.jpg Gave her luggage for Christmas with a note telling her how to pack without telling her the place. Then we flew out to Chicago for new years weekend and had 3 nights of 5 star dinners and activities planned. Proposed to her on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building. Restaurant is called the signature room. Then partied all weekend for new years eve l/new years. Best time of my life.

Lol. Not me, my friend. Was truly one of the funniest things I have ever seen my entire life. A couple of years later I overheard his wife telling her friend about the proposal. She made up a whole elaborate story involving him wearing a suit overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge as the sun was setting.

I found a ringbox that lit up and shined a light on the diamond ring when you opened it. Took my wife deep into the end of a dark half mile long cave, opened the box in complete darkness and proposed. If I proposed to my wife like my friend, she would’ve flat out said no. My wife wouldn’t have none of that.

    This thread is awesome. LOL.

Been with my woman 4.5 years. After 6 months of living together, the gubermint considers us common-law. When I eventually get round to proposing, it'll be with a Ring Pop. Real rings are expensive. Tundra needs mods!!!

PS...she knows my plans already. She approves of the Ring Pop. She doesn't care much for expensive rings and would rather see my Tundra have a @Toytec Lifts BOSS lift. She also adds that she'll lose a ring in a heartbeat. She won't lose my truck.

I took her on a weekend trip up to Durango, CO. Stayed in a nice place, wined, dined, just had some fun. We went on a mellow hike up to Spud Lake between Durango and Silverton. We were sitting on the edge of the lake when I was pointing out the scenery. She turned to look and I went down to one knee. I damn near fell in the water when I did - she turned when she heard the scuffle and saw me just recovering in time.....

Went to Mendocino for the weekend and I carried the ring the whole time I was looking for the "perfect" spot. We went for a walk by cliffs overlooking the water and found the spot. Coming up on 19 years and I still joke that I proposed on the cliff just in case she said no. :p

We dated 7 months when I popped the question. I called her dad the week before, to meet him for coffee and ask his blessing, which was something along the lines of “I couldn’t stop her from marrying you if I wanted to”. LOL

Well, my soon to be mother-in-law spilled the beans to you-know-who, taking any surprise out of it for her.

I wasn’t very creative - we went out for a nice dinner before I was leaving town for apprentice school for 6 weeks, went for a walk along the lake in the dark after. I picked a nice cold concrete bench to sit on, and suggested we take a journey together. At which point I got on one knee and brought out the ring. But remember, I said it was dark, and the ring was next to impossible to see with the limited glow from distant street lights. She did say yes, and did like the ring once she could see it. LOL. 13 years next month, feels like 13 minutes...

...underwater. And yes, she hates that joke, and will kill me if she reads it.

We were at a private safari resort in South Africa, sitting at the camp fire, when I proposed. She kinda knew it was going to happen, because we picked her ring out together a few weeks before.

We dated for almost 5 years before I asked. We both really like to hike / trail run. We were running the trial near Red Rocks by Dinosaur Ridge and I tried to tell her to stop running and take a break cuz I had a cramp. She told me to deal with it and keep running. I waited until the next spot for another opportunity and asked to stop for a water break. She told me to keep running. After running for 30 minutes with the ring in my hand I had 1 opportunity left in a spot that overlooks all of Golden, Denver and Red Rocks. I just stopped and said I'm taking a water break and I walked over to the outlook. she followed me and we looked at the view for a bit. Then i gave my speech that she doesn't remember because she was in shock. Dropped to me knee and she said yes. Then she kept telling random people on the trial that she just got engaged.

I had the 5 year rule. I like how you made it to 10. :hattip:

My wife is very close to her grandparents. Her grandparents met while stationed in San Francisco. They told us stories about how they used to walk along the beach at the Presidio. They have been married for close to 50 years. So when we took a family vacation to San Francisco, I proposed on that same beach. It meant the world to her. It was like we stared exactly where they did. Family was all there to witness. My advice is to do it somewhere that means something to her or both of you. If she's big on family, like my wife is, I recommend including them. Good Luck and Congrats!! I hope we are all invited to the bachelor party!!:rofl:

We went to SA for our honeymoon. What an amazing place to propose. We met a few newlyweds on the trip and one of them got married out in the bush. Now that’s an awesome venue for a wedding.

A little of this and a little of that.

I’m still laughing. My stomach hurts.

I asked in Caesar’s Palace in front of a monstrosity of their Christmas tree. Beforehand I was so nervous I was at the bar with a couple buddies having a drink or three to help with my courage. Went to her place of employment to pick her up (or meet her for something, I can’t really remember) and brought the ring with me, obviously. Dropped to one knee and popped the question. Luckily she said yes and we have been married for 25 years this August 28th. I was so young (19) I didn’t ask her father for his blessing (Don’t flame me) I didn’t know you were supposed to.
