Bought the proclip and very impressed with it so far.

Ok, I’m gonna give this a a try. I understand that it’s a two-part system. What Holder do you guys recommend using with the ProClip mount?

I have an iPhone XS that I use with CarPlay and will probably upgrade to whatever larger or Pro iPhone that comes out in Fall 2021. So, I’m thinking either the basic ProClip Adjustable iPhone Holder or a Scosche Magicmount XL (surface mount version which I would stick onto the ProClip mount).

I have this same setup for my iPhone 10 plus and use the ProClip with the Scoshe Magicmount XL and really like it. The magnet is VERY strong and it's nice not having to fiddle with the clamp style mounts. I debated going with the ICS/Ram dash mount setup but though it was way overkill for my use.

The previous owner of mine installed a proclip and I really like it. I used it driving 18 hrs to Dallas and drove 1k miles around on TX back roads and it never moved. Made a believer out of me.

Just installed mine. Use a magnetic screwdriver, PITA.

    Overall seems sturdy.

This thing is def sturdy but I don’t care for how high it sits up. I don’t like the phone being above the dash line. Gets distracting/annoying for me. Def well built tho.
I bought a scosche and put it just above the 4x4 knob. I prefer the phone (with CarPlay) to be a nice reach but out of the way since I’m not using it for GPS

If you want to sell it, send me a DM. I’d like to have one but can’t justify the full price.
    Thanks.

I am also still a little torn about getting one of these for my 2015 and am also not a huge fan of the location but I also use a Scosche in my 2001 Tundra in the exact same spot and it is the most rugged and reliable Scosche of the many that I have had and I am not sure why the ProClip is even needed in combination with it?

It seems like using them together would make it all even higher and in the field of view than the Scosche stuck on the dash by itself.

Ok, got the ProClip, just installed it... I didn't search here (too lazy) but here's my twist.
I didn't want a magnet on my phone, so here's my solution, plus, I'm cheap.
Another thing... I couldn't get the size of the ProClip anywhere!!!
My friend 3D printed my design, which you can buy on Amazon/
The ball is a standard 17MM (.669") used for Garmin etc.

The dash returns to normal. There is a gap --I mean, you're putting a piece of thin (but sturdy plastic) between two manufactured parts after all but the gap is minimal and not noticeable from where I sit.

Overall, and I can't emphasize this enough, the design is very sturdy and placement is ideal (IMHO) with little if any dash gap. I've been using it for 6 months now and done a lot of rough (ROUGH) logging road at speed. It has been flawless. The only caveat is that I use the phone holder designed for iPhone with the cable clicked in place. And, you need the Apple lightning cable or identical replica (the earlier Amazon Basics cables worked but not the current version) The cable end size is specific and clips into the mount. I love it but apple doesn't make a black cable and I'm down to my last Amazon Basic black cable.

My phone is too distracting that high up on the dash.
I prefer mine just above the 4WD knob. Especially since I’m using CarPlay. If I was using it for GPS maybe that location would be fine.

Does anybody with a proclip have a column shifter? The proclip website has a Vague warning about the shifting of column shifter trucks. It doesn’t say it won’t work but it says “be aware of how the pro clip may affect shifting”. Thanks, literally doesn’t help me figure out if it will work or not.

I imagine it is more to do with the shifter hitting the phone more than anything else.
I have a column shifter and can not understand how this would work but I have also not seen that warning as I have never been sold on the ProClip mount anyway or any mount in that location for my truck.

I am in the process of installing a ProClip on my ‘21 with a column shifter. I have a few pictures above (not the best at the moment) and can get a few later.

Keep note, this is a 2-part system: a mount and a phone holder. In using both, the column shifter will not hit your phone/mount if using their system.

I haven’t completed the install as the phone holder they sent me isn’t holding my phone as well as it should.

I’ve purchased a panavise holder that I have in my BMW and it works really well and if the replacement holder from ProClip doesn’t work out, I’ll use the panavise. For the cost of the proclip, I’m hoping it works out.

here’s a link to then panavise mount:
Panavise PortaGrip Phone Holder with AMPS Adapter Plate

btw, using this mount will also not make contact with the shifter.

I've had Proclips in several cars, they have an amazing product. I'll never do magnet again - rough enough road it will tilt/come loose. Absolutely can't use magnets on track or off-road...

I did have an issue where a Proclip I got didn't fit properly. They took the return and I went with a CD mount. Never use CD's anyways - thing is bombproof. I've used them in a couple cars now and the trick is to get the one that positions the phone where you want. This one is high: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WD21FV8/ref=syn_sd_onsite_desktop_40?psc=1&uh_it=8ad133032cba87dcc1d4a28892c66b67_CT&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRFhXVjlCTzBWWERTJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzAxMTU3M01OMzMxTlE3NkhPRSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUExMDMzOTc2M0ZaNjRITkJWSjFSTSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNkX29uc2l0ZV9kZXNrdG9wJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ%3D%3D

So far I’m liking this combination. The Scosche MagicMount XL is very strong and my phone isn’t that heavy, so it sticks great. My only beef is that the ProClip opens up a pretty big gap in the trim, which I find annoying/unsightly.

Ok column shifters....I got it done the other day and I gotta say it sits and fits perfectly.
It doesn’t impede the shifter at all when up in park and obviously when in drive the arm is even lower and away!
Here are some pics for reference. Sorry for the quality, I wanted to take a pic of the setup with my phone installed so I had to use an old iPad to take some pictures.
I also just took apart the dash to to run the charger cord up for a slightly “cleaner” look.

That gap is no bigger than any of the other gaps and mismatched materials and colors found all over the cab.
Toyota is known for a lot of things, fit and finish in the Tundra is not one of them.
Either way, this is the best setup I've found for this particular truck.

Been looking at something like this for my 13’. Why do you need to dash mount the phone if you have CarPlay right next to it?

A couple of things... it works great to record videos of trails or a-holes doing dumb stuff in front of you. The phone is in the perfect spot to capture straight ahead footage.
It also just keeps the phone up and out of the way and not just thrown in the console or seat. I have the mount with the integrated cable holder so it charges when I put it in the holder. Clean, simple and sturdy.

I picked one of these up and not sure why but it completely disabled my touchscreen. Needless to say I returned it.
