I wish I had found out about this before wasting money on other crappy solutions.

I just installed the mounting bracket for the ProClip and waiting on the separate iPhone specific mount attachment. It's expensive, but as they say: "you get what you pay for"... The bracket mounts in a great spot: field of view, but out of the way. Elegant, well-engineered design.

It's an easy 2 minute install--completely reversible, no drilling. And, I am surprised by how sturdy it feels and how stable it is. Zero flex, zero movement.

Update: I upgraded to the iPhone 12 and Proclip holder for the 12. It uses a proprietary lightning cable. Occasionally, I was getting the “water detected” error message when I plugged it in. I’d re-rack the iPhone and override the message. I figured out it was a faulty cable. After a few months I got tired of doing this and I contacted Proclip customer support. In two days I had a new cable in hand, Zero cost to me and didn’t have to return anything… Great customer service! Everything works perfect now.

I have a 2020 with CarPlay and I'm using a grippy Speck Presidio Grip iPhone case. Update photos are with the case installed (minus the phone for photos---I tried to take pictures with the iPhone still in the case, but I'm just not fast enough:rofl:)

The holder I'm using requires OEM cable because it is manufactured to exactly fit the shape of the Apple cable, it clips into place so no wiggle. The Amazon Basics cables look identical so they may work too (I'd prefer a black cable)

Id like to know if your phone overheats with the heater on in that position, or if it covers that vent in anyway.

I've used Proclips in my last 4 vehicles and they've always worked well. For my 2020, I went wireless charger and carplay2air. No wires and I just throw the phone onto the wireless charger. Carplay2air is admittedly not perfect, but it's good enough.

I have Proclip in my truck and it doesn't obstruct the vent in any way. In my 4runner, it covered the vent, but the Tundra is good to go.

I just got one of these mounts. I use Rokform cases and mounts on my bike and other car so I will be attaching one of these to this mount.

what issues have you had with your CarPlay2Air? Mine has worked great so far. Only about 2 weeks.

I have one in my truck too. Drilled two holes and mounted my Ram arm system. Spent last Saturday beating the truck up on washboard roads and it held solid with my phone in the mount.

I just bought one as well. I have had it now for 2 weeks and am impressed. I just recently went on vacation and it was so convenient having the phone mounted on the pro clip! Great product would definitely buy again!

I have used the proclip for over a year and still agree that it's the perfect solution. No issues encountered and it puts the phone at a perfect location. In future vehicles I'm not going to waste my time trying out other mounts.

I have nothing but good things to say about the ProClip phone holder, I have tried multiple mounts and the Proclip is the only one that has stayed put while on the back-roads. I liked it so much I got one for my wife's van.

I will say that the vent that it sits in front of is only partially use full and the clip will get a warm under full heat but I have never been concerned with damage.

I used one of those for a couple years and I liked it.
I removed it after getting a console wireless charger and a Kenwood aftermarket HU with wireless Carplay.

I’ve used these mounts for the last 5 years with nothing but great things to say about it. While expensive, they have been worth it in my opinion. Keeps my phone secure and at the perfect height while not taking my eyes off the road.

Thanks for the review, been trying to find reviews on it. I've been using the magnet mount that clips to the ac vent. I don't like that it blocks the air and flies off when accelerating a little too abrupt. The Proclip mounts into the panels, does it increase the panel gap at all?

If it does increase the gap, it is so slight that it is imperceptable.

One of the nice things about ProClips is they are vehicle specific and they have clearly thought out best location placement. I think the Tundra placement is one of the best yet.

The obviously have to add to the Gap where they mount.

I have not tried any Pro Clip mounts since having issues in the past because of the way they slide into the gaps to hold in place.

Add to that the issue I have always had with the case always protecting my phone and preventing them from working with any mount anyway and I rely on the Scosche Magnetic mont system for my gear in all of my vehicles and I am satisfied in general with them and they work with anything that I can stick a flat metal plate on for the magnet to keep in place.

I am always tempted to try the Pro Clip again though for sure.

There is a very, very slight gap. You would have to really look to see it due to the parallax, viewing from the seating positions you can't see it. From directly above the device it is perceptible. In my humble OCD opinion; insignificant.

I was concerned how sliding the phone in and out would work since my phone case (a Speck Presido Grip) has silicon grippy ridges on the sides. Works fine. No problems. Final pictures posted on my original post.

For those with the proclip mount, is the rectangular mount face angled? I received mine today and was excited to install it, but the mount is angled so far off that I can’t foresee even the screws catching!

pix for reference. I’ll reach out to proclip tmw

Your's looks correct. As you tighten down the screws it squeezes the dash trim and creates a very tight, solid mount. Trust it, it works :)

...just don't tighten to the point of stripping out the threads.

I'm using the Qi charger mount on my Land Cruiser (no apple carplay). You set the phone in and squeeze it secure. There's a release button on the back. Link: https://www.proclipusa.com/device/phone-holders/apple-iphone-12-pro

Does the dash trim piece pop back into its original position or does it protrude out a little bit due to the piece being stuck behind it.
