I have just over 20K miles on my 2018 and no leak, yet. I have asked the dealer specifically about the seals at every service and they have said they don’t see a problem. I’m paranoid about it as well because of the number of issues reported here.

i have 2 2014's both 5.7 one has 60,000 the other 30,000 and neither have a leak but i can't vote twice. !! fake news !!! polls are wrong and skewed !!! everyone comes to these chat rooms to see about problems usually, so you are going to have more people here that have that problem than maybe out in the real world.

I know ever time I buy a new car i do research and these chat rooms helps out a bit.

It sounds like all will leak in time. Shitty design Toyota. This forum just cost you a shit ton of warranty labor.

All fixed. It is probably a placebo effect, but the engine seems to be quieter and smoother. 14.9 hours of labor.

Well, my paranoia finally came true. Chalk up another vote for a 3rd gen. I took it into the dealer today to have them look, and it's going under the knife on Monday. 8,700 miles... Not feeling good right now!

I'm pretty sure I saw someone on here with a 2019 say they had the leak. I guarantee Toyota didn't just suddenly fix this issue, though, so we're sure to see some here the longer the 2019s have been out in the wild.

I know the feeling, just had both sides fixed. I mentioned here that my truck is running great, seems quieter, smoother and plainly she’s running great. 2FF4FFCB-AA65-4A23-981C-06FA8B258ADA.jpg

I did see that, thanks for posting! I asked the service writer today if they would do both sides even though the passenger isn't leaking (as far as I can tell) and he said they'd take care of me. It reassured me a bit that he knew what I was talking about right way, and this is a pretty big dealer in my area so I'm sure they've repaired their fair share. It still sucks and I'll definitely be contacting Toyota corporate.

    Your welcome.

What are you going to say to corporate ?
Other then you, me and everyone that owns a truck with a 5.7 that has this problem thinks it is unacceptable.

I understand that when this repairs are down they have a record.

I'm just going to share my feelings about this whole thing. I've owned Toyota vehicles since I started driving and bought the Tundra over its competitors so I'd have peace of mind regarding reliability, even though the Tundra falls short in other areas. Now that I'm having to have the engine dismantled before I've even hit 9k miles I'm pretty much losing that peace of mind and am going to be worried something else will pop up. I've seen how much has to come apart to fix this and it just opens the door for something to go wrong.

Understood, they will give your repair to a experienced tech and the repair has nothing to do with a moving parts it’s a gasket and just remember this engine is a work horse.

Yeah, I saw that. Don’t let it freak you out. It’s hard not to, because I did a bit when I saw it. Now that I’m on the other side of the repair and have driven the truck over 250 miles since yesterday morning and I can’t say it enough, the truck is smooth and powerful. Also this video is not exactly how Toyota techs do the repair.
