So so very sorry for your loss. Permanent solution to temporary problems. Such a sad thing to ever hear of. My brother passed away when I was 11 and he was 14 (brain cancer) and it for sure changes the family but things do get better, I promise you. My mum said a parent should never ever bury a child, honestly if I could I wouldve traded places with him in a heartbeat. Years later the hardest thing for me is always wondering what couldve been.
    Sending much love.

I can’t imagine how you feel as a parent who has lost a child because I haven’t. And I’m sorry you have to go through this.

But I can empathize with your children. I was 9 when I discovered my dad. I know those thoughts, feelings, and questions all too well. What they need is you and the rest of the family right now. And later when they’re ready, talk to someone outside the family like a grief counselor.

I get super choked up thinking about this kind of stuff. I am deeply sorry that you and your family are having to deal with this tragic event. Even though I don't know you, you are all in my thoughts.
I have dealt with depression myself my whole life and I know how bad things can get. We've also been dealing with bad depression with my 14 year old daughter for awhile now and this is my absolute worst nightmare. For me knowing that I passed this genetic trait to her is very hard on myself. I'm so sorry.

Don't beat yourself up bud. No parent would wish this on their kiddo...I'm sure you're doing whatever you can to make sure she's loved and feels that. As parents all we can do is our best and trust that it's enough to help our kids navigate this hard ass life.

Anthony, I cannot add anything to what has already been said, but I want you to know that you and your family are in our prayers. My 22yo son fights depression and just started some medication for it. I have worried about him many times, especially since he went to college 3 1/2 years ago. You have experienced my worst nightmare for my son, and yes, I too have shed a few tears over your loss.

A good friend of mine committed suicide when I was 17. Much later in life, I lost my stepdaughter to Juvenile Huntingtons. It leaves a hole in your heart that will never be filled. Be there for your family, especially for your wife. We’ll do our best to be the strong ones for you. There’s a road ahead, it’s bumpy as fuck and littered with potholes and dog shit. But the smiles and laughter will come back even though the pain will still be present - and that’s okay. Like everyone has said, if you need something, reach out. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Anthony, my condolences and sympathy to you and your family as I cry my eyes out. This damn world and the depression constantly take some of our best people way too soon! There just are no adequate words, I'm truly sorry for what has occurred. Please stay strong and may your son rest in peace. As a father of two, I will definitely give them both an extra hug today. As clearly stated above, you and your family may reach out and lean on myself and this group anytime you feel the need or desire.
