Exact same break on mine, had them taken off entirely after I showed the dealer. The fit looked as designed, and they were going to follow up on it, but weren't going to see about replacing anything unless Toyota came out with a superseding part to indicate a fix. personally I like the look without it better so will be leaving them off

For those that broke recently can you post your build date if you know it?

The funny part is that it actually looks better with just the platinum badge..... At least for me, it does.

For context, the front driver's side completely fell off by itself, both of the rear ones are coming halfway off, and the front passenger's side is 1/3 there.

Mine kept coming off at the ends so I had the dealer just take it off all together ... apparently not the 1st to have that done as he didn't even question it or the fact they were falling off! I think it looks good without it.

Can you post some closer shots of this? Looks good from that distant shot, and may be the route I go. :monocle:

Need to get some of the 3d printer folks to design a new surround for it, and it would work just fine. I wish my wife would let me buy toys like that.

I have not seen any 3d printed stuff that would match that finish without sanding and painting. If I were to do that I would cut the OEM trim and try to re finish the small cut area.

Yeah, you'd need to do some work on it for sure. Trying to salvage the stock one could work too. I may mess around with that if I can get the dealer to let me keep the leftovers after they replace mine.

They can't let you keep what doesn't make it to the dealer. :notsure:

Well it happened to me. I went to open the back door today to remove something and heard a loud snap. I knew exactly what to look for and sure enough the rear door moulding got caught and took a nice chunk out of it. I tried to press it down but with the heat we have had it wanted to keep snapping and grabbing the front door. I went ahead and ripped it off and still need to take some more of the adhesive off. What a bummer! Does anyone know if Toyota has a fix yet? I’m pretty bummed and feel like ripping them all off at this point! Although I actually like the way they look. I would hate to make an appointment at a dealer just to have another one catch and snap off. It also slightly damaged the paint on the front door.

I don’t have a platinum (I have SR5) but when I went to my dealer in Houston for service work my guy was asking me for my thoughts on the 22 Tundra and if I had any gripes, which I shared with him. He was telling me by far the biggest issue they are dealing with are the platinum door trim falling off. Seems like it’ll need to be something Toyota addresses because it sounds like it will inevitably fall at some point.

I don't see this getting "fix" at any point unless they decide to go with a more permanent way to attach the trim to the door. Double sided tape can be affected by too high or too low temperatures.
I'm going to ask the dealer to give me the replacement trim to keep uninstalled just in case, and I'm going to keep the truck without it. It looks better (IMO) and there's less headache and risk of damaging the doors with the constant adjustment.

I did managed to keep it without issues after I first noticed the issue by pressing the trim against the door every time I remembered to do so.

I like mine with the trim gone than with it installed (trim pieces broke the day after I took delivery)

The parts are still on back order from my dealer. It’s been like a month and half

That is unfortunate. Did both sides break on your truck? My passenger side trim piece is getting awfully close to the front door as well so I anticipate that one will break soon as well

Crazy this is happening with just the platinum trim since the 1794 uses the same trim but it’s chrome…

Bumping this thread, has anybody with this problem been given a timeline for a resolution? My Platinum has been built and stuck at the factory for a couple of months waiting to ship. My dealer just said they are "waiting on a part for the bottom of the door". So my best guess is that they are referring to this problem with the door trim/molding that keeps breaking.

Mine were falling off, so I had the dealer order replacement parts. They took the old ones off and replaced the passenger side and then discovered the box for the drivers side was empty! So they reordered the drivers side. After a 6 week wait I enquired on a date and it showed no inventory available. Now a month later it's supposed to be coming in this week. My half a Platinum might be a whole Platinum again! If there are any further problems I'll just remove them and leave it clean....as that's a great look as well.

I bought a brand new 2023 Tundra a few days ago. opened the back driver side door and the molding caught the front door and snapped. Going into dealer tomorrow to discuss getting if replaced. Very frustrating to purchase something brand new and have a defect like this. It’s simply placed too close to the front door so when it’s opened it snags it.

    Alright.

Who's gonna be the 1st one to do it...........or am I gonna have to?

While mine are only peeling off at the edges (and don't catch at all, thus nothing broken), I'm getting slightly annoyed having to "explain myself" to each and every person that notices.
I'm really tempted to rip the 2022+ "Platinum" badge+trim of shame off, and replace it with the 2021- one.

I've been waiting 6 months for replacement drivers side moulding. My dealer has it on order but the date keeps getting pushed back. I'm ready to just debadge and be done with it.

Just happened to me too on drivers side passenger door. I've had the truck a week. Trim got caught on driver door, I heard a crack and it didn't snap but bent the passenger door trim. 2023 Tundra Platinum - Dealer said part is on requested - back order. 400 other requests for part when he put in his request.
