Will your insurance cover the damage to your firearms? I’m glad you got them back but it really sucks that they were damaged.

Obviously many people like it, otherwise they wouln't make so much of it. Hopefully it was just as obvious I was joking. I’m not a light beer fan, but I’m not a prick either.

There are some people who are real snooty about it. Beer snobs looking down their nose at you, like your not refined enough. It’s just not my flavor. If its worth anything I do like a Guinness now and then, and Irish car bombs.
Typical beers like Heineken‘s, coronas, Hefeweizen, rolling rock etc.

I enjoy nearly every beer out there - not huge on Stouts, but I’ll still drink one if that’s the only option. I think Portland (30 min from me) is one of the biggest beer capitals in the country. Definitely blessed when it comes to beer around here :)
My beer fridge has a mix of imperial IPA’s, Pales, Lagers, and of course Coors Light :)

There are shelves that have hidden compartments too. Can hold hand guns or rifles....the only way to unlock them is with a card

That is a shame. IMO keeping guns locked up in a safe is a basic responsibility of all gun owners. Mine are locked up and while I own one less gun because I dropped over a grand on the safe I feel I’ve done the right thing.

So I would agree with the admonishment that you failed your responsibilities as a gun owner and hope you will consider buying and using a quality safe going forward.

Bullshit. Simplysafe is $25 a month and a few hundred to install.

God forbid somebody has one less mall ninja toy in the name of being a responsible gun owner. As a certified gun nut who kills birds every chance I get and shoots idpa whenever I can I gotta say this kinda attitude is what gun owners do NOT need.

Sucks what happened to the guy but if you can’t afford the cost or common sense required to keep firearms secured in your home then perhaps you should reconsider owning them.

Ummm...no not everyone can afford a monitored security system. Say bull shit all you want. I'm not going to have a pissing match over this. You don't know other people's finances or job situations.

And what the hell is a mall ninja toy?

That’s like saying you shouldn’t own a Tundra if you don’t have a garage big enough to park it in and keep it securely locked.

I’ll agree there is a time and a place for a safe. I have one after all. I also have children, and those children have friends. But as an anti-theft measure - well, it might slow them down, and deter the lazy ones.

can afford a Tundra (and the gas it drinks!) and multiple AR15s but can't afford a $25/mo security system?

    doesn't pass the laugh test.

I am not referring to him as i don't know his situation in that area. I am making that as a general comment knowing my situation.... and i own guns and a tundra. Would you like to pass judgement on me?

And last i checked he isn't denying or saying anything should not have been different. He's making people aware in hopes to help others not be in the same situation.

That being said.... let's not make this into a shit show.

yep, lock 'em up in safe and don't ask the people around you to accept more risk because you're too cheap to buy a safe.

if you CAN NOT afford to properly secure a firearm then you CAN NOT afford a firearm.

in the same way if you can't afford car insurance you can't afford a car. it's there to protect OTHERS.

making people aware of what? home break ins?

was that news to anyone here? seriously?

he's complaining about the damage to his property (as I would too) but in the process he has pointed out that the guns weren't secured properly. all gun owners owe it to the second amendment to call this out when it comes up. this sort of thing is what screws up gun ownership for those who do make an effort to be responsible gun owners.

You realize these guns were in his home correct? A home that is illegal to enter by others when he is not home. This wasn't his car parked at a bowling alley with the doors unlocked and said piece sitting on the dash. Blame goes back onto the home owner not the perp? This is the mentality that will end up costing us our rights - and pass some stupid ass law forcing me to lock up my guns defeating the self defense purpose of them. You can shoot competitively all you want, there are thousands of Fudds that have cost us our rights over the years.
What if the guns were in a safe, and said perp took 2 more minutes and cut them out of a safe? Then what - then it's okay? No.
I have 5 safes and 2 of which are 1000+ lbs, but that doesn't mean every gun I own is locked up. It's my God given right to keep my firearms where ever the F I want in my house. And nobody else in this Country has a right to tell me how to store them or where to keep them.

have to disagree with you there boosted. the people around you have a right to ask you to be responsible with firearms. their safety is not yours to play games with.

and I don't see where I said perp sheds blame onto OP.

IOW your rights end where theirs start. failing to take basic precautions to secure your guns would affect their safety.

no doubt when OP discovered the theft he had at least a moment of 'OMG I hope the thief isn't shooting some place up right now!'.
