There is absolutely nothing to apologize for. This isn't a debate that somebody using somebody's unfortunate event to just be a dick. I'm glad I wasn't able to be on when I saw the rest of the BS that was being typed out on here because I probably would be banned right now too:anonymous:

And if he honestly thinks that his house is so secure then why doesn't he hire somebody to come break into his house and see how well secured his house is. Because I have watched TV shows where professional burglars would break into somebody's house when they thought their house was totally and completely secure and that if anybody ever broke in they would be able to catch them and they ended up having their house pretty much cleaned out by said professional

And not to mention that some of the biggest companies with the best security in place still have cases of people infiltrating their security systems and personnel

Yup. No way to keep someone out who really wants in. Glad you happened to see the guy w your stuff. As far as safes go, only really keep fire from your docs if it’s fire rated. Otherwise it’s just a deterrent. Give me enough time and some tools I’ll get into anything.
Hell all my neighbors are leo’s, our houses get hit occasionally. I’ve got a simpli-safe system that I hope the siren scares em off. Either way they know they’re going to have several minutes to grab stuff before anyone “maybe” shows up.
Glad you recovered some items, even a little dinged up.

Hell someone got into my tundra and 4 other vehicles in the driveways with a cell phone or some similar device.

So just to clear up some things:

    - Do I think having a safe is good? Yes. Do I think everyone should fall behind ColoradoTJ like sheeple and go get one? No.

    - Do I think having a home security system is a good idea? Yes, but understand the men and women in Blue do not have to respond, and in some cases can’t due to priority.

    - Would the type of professional theif risk what 90% of common people have in their safes? No. Lol. However, believe me, I was pretty shocked at how intel is gathered through common household devises and kids, etc.

What Rich did was very brave and probably was caught up in the moment. Would he do the same again? I don’t know. Only he can answer that.

If someone was breaking into my Duramax and attempting to steal it, would I go outside and try and stop them? No is the quick answer. The truck is insured, I wouldn’t mind getting a 2018 with 445hp/910tq. Unless you have full view of what’s going on outside, good way to be a victim, and easy way to let someone else in. Think about it. Throw a rock at a vehicle, factory alarm goes off, owner looks around, turns on some lights, goes outside...unless 10th group is coming out with you, that’s a big risk.

In reality, I wish I would have a nice big gun safe to put my guns in but there has always been something else I need to use my money on. Maybe I’ll be able to get one some day but until then it just me and my guns. I’m home 99.5% of the time and everyone that knows me realizes I can put a bullet up a gnats ass at well over 1000 yards. My house is situated in the middle of a large field where it’s 150 yards to the woods. I keep a loaded 12 gauge by the bed with 4 3” 00 buck followed by 2 Dragon’s Breath https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WwhCygmhbCgto set them on fire. I keep a loaded Sig 45 under my pillow and a 40 on the night stand. If shit really hits the fan I have other toys within an arms reach for the bad guys enjoyment. My two neighbors are FBI. The one is currently working Presidential Security and the other is Security at the FBI offices here by my house. Both are fully capable should any situation arise.

I had a peeping Tom once. I found cigarette butts and trampled soil at my woods line. I waited to about 10pm one night when the wife wasn’t home. I took my night vision scope and when the guy took a drag off his cigarette he lit up like a Christmas tree. I smacked a 30 round clip in the Gun and held 20 feet to the right of the guy and started firing. He took off at a dead run to the left and I kept firing about 20’ behind him. I heard him give out a loud yell in pain and his cigarette went flying. I held my fire and went to investigate. It appears he ran wide open into a new 6 strand barbed wire fence. I didn’t have any troubles with old Peeping Tom after that. The ironic thing about this story is the guys name was Tom.

A couple month later he climbed a tree to look at some young girls in a swimming pool. The limb he was standing on broke and he hit the ground like a sack of potatoes. After that he was caught by the police several times peeping on young girls. He currently is housed in a maximum security prison.

I only got a safe when we did foster care.
My safe is to keep the kids from my guns. My house locks and cameras, then insurance, is for thieves. Glad you got your shit back.

:locked:locking your guns up is just a smart thing to do when you are not home. Always carry your pdw and you can get your rifle or whatever you want out while you are home it is not complicated. Just because people shouldn't steal doesnt mean the aren't going to.

Also some guns are not replaceable some are heirlooms or rare some are very very expensive. Just doesnt make sense to be against taking preventative measures to protect your valuables.

Sorry for your bad luck - glad you caught the dirt bags. Another option for you, is hiding your guns in plain sight using concealed gun storage/furniture. The possibilities are endless and there are many dealers online. Still expensive but cheaper than a safe. However, if you are handy at all, they are fairly simple to make, and you could possibly convert a piece of furniture you already have in house, which would be very inexpensive and the asshats that broke into your house probably would not be bright enough to find them..just throwing out ideas.

I have been following your story. Haven’t posted cause I really have nothing to add other than, that really sucks man.

I think gun safes are great, but like you said, I seem to always have something else to spend my money on. Idk...this world sucks man. Just Glad nobody was physically harmed, it could have easily escalated into a much bigger mess...

Edit: also from what I have heard about luepold they should warranty that scope..
