last week, denver was slowly beginning to shut down. city park, normally busy on any other warm spring day, was abnormally quiet. this man and his dog were enjoying both the quiet and the spring sunshine.

So this is gonna sound screwed up. Cities seem much more beautiful without people in them. The calm and the quiet in @smslavin 's pictures is such a stark difference from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. Eerie yet peaceful.

Your photos are brilliant. I've had a camera in my hand since I could go around on my own, but I never developed the eye some people have, but I love taking pictures.

Mostly anything I shoot anymore is when i hike and drag the Canon 60d around with me. I wish I had your talent.

all it takes is practice and a little bit of study. think of it like a muscle. normally, i would say go to the museum and study the paintings but, do it online. think about why it works for you, what doesn't work for you, where the light comes from, what the compositional elements are. take that and apply it to your photographs. the concepts are all the same. chance are pretty high that if it appeals to your eye, it will appeal to someone else's.

just remember to take your time. slow down and think about where the camera is pointing and where the light is coming from. it will all come together.

if you have questions, feel free to ask. more than willing to offer what little knowledge i have.

sharing some archive photos and old surf stories on FB. can't remember if i posted this one but wanted to share. north shore of oahu, keiki beach. bodyboarder was roughly 6' tall so you can do the rough guesstimate on wave height. the bottom, where he is about a microsecond from, was/is very shallow. maybe waist deep, probably shallower. it was a totally bonkers day. swell held through the evening and the ran they eddie at waimea the next day.

been working on getting this organized for the past couple of months. yesterday it all came together.

some of my work is now available through a gallery here in denver.

i'm pretty excited about this as the gallery has an interesting model. all work is available for rental or purchase. if you decide to rent, the gallery picks up the pieces from me then delivers them to you and hangs it on your wall. obviously, the delivery only works if you're here in denver. the rental pieces can be swapped out on a monthly basis if you'd like to rotate the art in your home or business. it makes the art significantly more accessible which is a good thing.

the gallery can be found here: https://getthegallery.com/

easiest way to find my work is to just use the search with my name. but, do take a look at some of the other pieces. there are some very talented people on the site.

So my wife’s birthday is coming up soon, she really wants an underwater camera, but I’m a total noob with this kinda stuff. I’ve read some articles and I’m currently leaning toward the Olympus TG-6, Fuji XP140, or the GoPro Hero 8. She wants to take clear underwater pics and videos, but probably doesn’t need anything rated beyond 5-10 meters. Any thoughts / recommendations?
