Was it 54k out the door? Or before all the tax/fees etc...?

After you upgrade your SR5 and spend the same amount as a pro would have been the only thing you could make better is the suspension. Otherwise the 2020-2021 pros are now a limited base model. Meaning the interior will still be nicer than your SR5. And when you decide to sell or trade in, you won't get shit for your upgrades unless you take them off and sell individually. Where as the pro will get better return for doing nothing. You can knock the pro all you want, but most that do are just jealous they couldn't afford one to begin with.

This is an important point I think gets lost in this type of debate. Sure, you can build a far more capable truck for equal money starting with an SR5, but 99% of people are buying these trucks will never even test the limits of factory form. Having been down this path before, you maybe get $.10 back on the $1 for mods if you luck into a buyer that appreciates and wants the work. That $.10 goes to $.00 if you ever need/want to trade it in. For me, it's like an investment and you're hedging risk/loss. In this instance, the risk is depreciation volume. Pros tend to hold their value the best. An SR5 that is modded to outperform a Pro at equal cost, will still always be worth less than a Pro. I don't know if it's jealousy, rather justification of one's choice. That said, I wholeheartedly agree that the price of vehicles is out of control these days. Whatever tickles your pickle...

This is why I picked a pro. I was in the market for a used tundra and prices started spiking this summer. My employer offered to buy me a new vehicle and let me pick whatever I wanted since I drive his kids around (I'm a nanny). He is a big fan of cars and pushed me to get the pro, so eventually I caved and went for it. I consider it an investment since the resale value is great and the demand for the v8 isn't likely to change even with the remodel next year. But I might end up keeping this truck 10-15 years, tbd.

Started to respond but had a flash of brilliance. How about I just apologize for crapping on the OP's thread? It wasn't the best place to share my thoughts about value.

    Sorry OP

Haha...man, it's the internet and everyone is full of opinions. None of us are right and none of us are wrong. I'm on like dealership #6 trying to get them off MSRP even a little, so what the hell do I know? Cheers!

So, this is a game a lot of dealerships are playing at the moment as I've run into this literally 3 times in 2 states including Fred Anderson. They post TRD Pros that were ordered/pre-sold and show a discount to get hits. They then tell you that truck is unfortunately sold but they can get you one just like it. FA quoted me "just $57,020 for a TRD Pro." I asked for a breakdown of that total since I'm out of state and never received a response.

A month or so ago - Dealership by my house shows Pro with a small discount - "Oh that truck is sold, but we have this one coming in soon. Sends me an OTD price at MSRP. I ask about the price shown on their site. Oh I'm sorry that was a misprint, we don't discount Pros."

Just this week - there's a dealership about a couple hours away from me that did the same thing. Showed a Pro with a ~5% discount - I emailed and asked for them to send me an OTD price so I could put a deposit down. "Oh sorry, that truck was ordered and pre-sold, but we can order you one just like it no problem." Walk through the process and get a quote at MSRP and I ask about a similar discount. They say only any incentives available at delivery will apply. Well, Pros are always excluded, so you're advertised discount was bullshit.

Dealers are a shady bunch. Just advertise it's MSRP only.

This is the dealership where I purchased my Tundra from, granted it’s not a PRO but I couldn’t ask for a better dealership to deal with. I was very impressed with Fred Anderson and they came off a few thousand dollars from MSRP again not a PRO though.

My pro was exorbitantly more than msrp. I sure do love it, but I'm glad I wasn't spending my own fun tickets!

I read good things on here about them, so that's why I reached out. I think the Pro is just a different game these days. I can find discounts on any other trim at pretty much any dealership, but nothing on a Pro as of yet. I might be chasing something that doesn't exist, frankly.

I keep looking at ads that say MSRP (which many are lying about in the first place, no dealer add ons and it is listed for $2K higher than normal, but that is beside the point), when I contact them I get "no that is not the price it is $10K-$12K over MSRP". If they want to inflate the price, that is their right. But, when they list it for lower and wait until you contact them to tell you no it is a much higher price, well that is unethical at minimum. I have reported a few to the sites they advertise on already.

Maybe I got lucky. I went to the dealership to look at an SR5 that I saw there the day before. Turns out they had sent it to another dealership that day. They had the Lunar Rock TRD Pro sitting there in front of the building. I didn’t go there intending to buy a pro but I left there owning it. I got them a little over 2000 off of MSRP and they gave me a great trade in value on my old truck. With that and my down payment I ended up financing 39,000. I’m super happy with that. I did my figures before I went in and decided what I wanted my payments to be and I almost walked away from it because they did not want to budge at all on the price.

Yup. I agree. I have no problem finding them at MSRP and fortunately not a single place I've spoken with has a market adjustment. And the dealer add-ons are awful, so I keep trying to get to a truck before it gets delivered. Pretty much every dealer in FL charges a $700-1,000 "dealer fee" too. Straight from the Fred Anderson website below, $900 for tint and wax plus $650 in admin. You're $1,500 above any price they list from the jump.

MSRP pricing excludes $899 Dealer Installed Options (window tint & interior/exterior protectant). All pricing and details are believed to be accurate, but we do not warrant or guarantee such accuracy. The prices shown above, may vary from region to region, as will incentives, and are subject to change. Call or email for complete vehicle specific information. Excludes tax, tag, registration and $649 administrative service fee.

I think the trade in helps since they can make money on that as well, so they're more willing to bend on the sales price. I don't intend to trade any of my cars in, so there's no extra meat on the bone, so to speak. Regardless, congrats on getting them to move at all on sticker! You're giving me hope.
