It may not be settled as yet what Map 2 actually is. It may or may not necessarily be a different octane, it may be more of a mileage map. It may be something that you could request. In your case Mat may make it a different octane by default because that's what you have already. Someone else, like me for example, it would be the same octane as my primary tune due to that being the min required/max octane available in my region of the country, but it may have expanded VVT tuning by default or something I request that's more applicable to towing, like what I would expect @MrMax to request.

I did the tune because I was told I could get 2 tunes for different octanes and that is still what I want. Hopefully the dust settles soon

this was always my thought as well, because i wanted to switch between 91 octane tune (tow/haul off) to a 93 octane tune (tow/haul on) and both tunes with gear lock in S-mode.

i don't see how that is confusing, until people start request configurations that are outside of that box i guess

Agreed. I think that once we have the chance to experiment with how the tunes work, it will become just about second nature, not unlike knowing where other vehicle controls and switches are, what they do and how they operate.

Yes...Tune(Map2) for me is simply a towing oriented tune. Both Tune's(Map's) are 91 octane tunes. I'm not sure what all the confusion is, because if you have a second tune you must have requested it. Be it a different octane, towing oriented, etc. If you did not specifically request this I imagine you are simply running one primary tune normally and the same primary tune when tow/haul is activated.

Also I think there may be some confusion regarding gear locking feature. It does and will work with either tune(if you have two). However if you want the Torque Converter to lock up as well you need to use tow/haul activated.I think the confusion stems from guys that have two tunes(maps) and want to be able to lock up the torque converter using the primary tune(Tow/haul off). That is not possible as it was described.

Quoting and re posting to add clarity to my previous post...If you have two tunes you can not run tune1(Map1) and get the Torque Converter fully locked feature.

Here is the problem. You move into S mode, your gears are locked and you decide you want your torque converter locked also. So you press the tow haul button. What happens? Well the way I read, your torque converter locks, but you also switch into a different octane map. (If you requested a second octane map)

If I'm wrong about that, great. But the way Mat has explained it, this is what will happen. I wouldn't want my map changing when all I want to do is lock the torque converter...

Trucky...I'm assuming you have two tunes(maps) if 93 octane is your primary tune at start up it will not lock up the torque converter using gear lock. Torque converter is only going to lock up in your tune/map2 when tow haul is activated and you move the shifter to S mode.

Again...the only time you will be able to lock up the torque converter is while using your tune/map2(tow/haul activated) and in S mode.

we have an option for 2019s, but it's pricey.
    2020 is still in testing.

I plan to get back to a lot of people this weekend. We have wrapped up a lot and ready to start pushing out updates.
But at the same time please be aware shipping and other things can / will be delayed due to Coronavirus things.

Yea so it seems like you guys are still confused about map switching????

Yes I fully understand that the only time you can lock the torque converter is while you are in S mode AND press the tow haul button.

Assuming you have 2 different octane maps in your tune:

Mat says the octane map is assigned to the tow haul button and regardless of being in s or d mode, pressing this WILL activate the second octane map.

My whole point is, in S mode, if you press the tow haul button, you will not only lock your tc, you will be in a different octane map.

The only resolution that I see here is that you'd need to either be very, very careful about High Gear/Low RPM predetonation, or not operate in S-Mode + Tow/Haul when there's inadequate octane in the tank.

Shipping, i don't have that issue, I need my updated tune and updates with the stuff I requested. My biggest concern is you are actually getting my emails, ive sent a few with tracking and none have been opened lately.

I see all of them. and even looked at them again yesterday. Maybe your email tracker isn't working, or doesn't work with Zendesk?

Also patches are done for most ECUs. You guys will be getting emails this weekend.
Anyone awaiting a base file / tune file etc as well.

    Oh cool! That's fun.

Mat, could you confirm that I have this correct:

Assuming you have 2 different octane maps in your tune:

Mat says the octane map is assigned to the tow haul button and regardless of being in s or d mode, pressing this WILL activate the second octane map.

My whole point is, in S mode, if you press the tow haul button, you will not only lock your tc, you will be in a different octane map.

If the above is correct, it doesn't sound like having a second octane map is a good idea and a guy should probably just have the tow haul button optimized for towing on a single octane map.

    Do I have this right?

This is how I want mine. Tow haul button for towing. I'll run a 91 tune and data log it and get revisions.

But I will also have a 87 base tune in case Im in the sticks and cant find 91. I'll just flash the base tune real quick and keep driving.

I bought a cheap 12" laptop that I keep in the truck specifically for OVTune and Techstream use
