What I don't understand if it's a reciprocates your States Concealed Carry then why can't your state reciprocate my concealed carry of my state. For example I have a concealed carry for Texas I cannot carry in my home state of Nevada because they do not see my concealed carry for Texas, but somebody from Nevada who has a concealed carry can carry here in Texas. That to me is bullshit

I can carry here but can't carry "there", yet "they" can carry here. WTF?

Texas allows more states to carry here....

Same issues with Washington. We see theirs but they don't see us.... and we have to do more to get our license than they do!!!!

I have a CCW from a few states. Get a Utah and/or an Idaho CCW if you travel a lot like I do.

If your state is a "shall issue" then expect that CCW to have limited recip. if you have to take a class and qualify, you'll have better coverage.

I'll open carry in the back country as well.
My only qualms with SOME PEOPLE THAT OC AND I'LL RE-ITERATE SOME PEOPLE are the ones that have the look at me mentality. You know the ones I am talking about. These are the same ones that spend all their money on cool guy gear and dont know shit. They should have spent their money on a couple of basic classes first. The empty can rattles the most!

Bree, as an MP you should be able to carry Nationwide under leosa without a concealed carry permit.

I have to take a class and qualify. Still doesn't make sense that states my state sees don't see ours.

I don't travel enough to justify getting multiple CCWs

Not true. USAF you have to get the approval of your CO AND PAY to for license to carry every where. Once retired it means nothing.

I come under LEOSA from the LEO perspective and I know, it's slightly different for military MPs but I wouldn't think it would be that much different. Have you actually read LEOSA? All it takes is a current or retired credential plus proof of qual within last 12 months. I will have to give it a reread from the perspective of military butt I'm thinking that MP's with authorization to carry guns and arrest powers are covered.

    Check out Le.nra.org/leosa

Oh I agree. And truthfully the whole CCW thing is nothing more than a big revenue generator for the state. When you look at it from that angle it starts making sense.

Example: Utah ccw department has approx 40 employees and generates more than $3.5MM/yr. idaho saw that and modeled its program after it.

And what credentials do you think MPs carry? We don't have credentials like civilian LEOs

I wouldn' know. But clearly this federal law is written to allow military MPs to carry nationwide.

I'm not going to read through the entire thread, so sorry if someone has already mentioned this..

I have had my CCW for almost 12 years now. I carry daily. I carry even in "gun-free" zones. This includes the post office and movie theaters. I practice avoidance. In all this time I've never had to use it, nor have I had any accidents or left in in a couch in Ikea.

I don't need to show off anything to anyone. I would potentially open carry during a protest or march in support of the 2nd Amendment, but that is so far a hypothetical situation for me. Like you, I do open carry when hiking/fishing in a remote area, etc.

I feel that if I were in a 7-11 buying coffee at 11PM when it got robbed at gun or knife point, complying until the robber(s) were focused on the clerk and the cash drawer may provide the opportunity for me to do something about it. If I were open carrying, it's possible they would be immediately deterred.. It's also possible they would target me first and I'd never have a clean opportunity to draw my weapon.

I live in a fairly rural area. Guys here open carry ALL THE TIME. At the car wash, at Walmart, at Panda Express.. And it's never the guys you look at and think "Gee, I'd take that guy into battle!" Rather, it's always guys who look like they have something to prove.. Or maybe the fact that they are open carrying makes me think they have something to prove. I was at Panda Express one time and a baby-faced kid, well dressed, was in with his mom and sisters. He must have just barely turned 21. He had a full duty-sized pistol on his hip and he couldn't stop resting his hand on it. It didn't really make me nervous but it ALMOST made me nervous. I'm sure he was just getting used to carrying (I remember feeling like I was doing something wrong when I first got my CCW). I wanted to politely mention it to him and let him know that he should keep his hands, feet, and all other objects away from the presumably locked and loaded firearm on his hip, but I thought better of it. A better scenario would have been that he got his CCW and I never knew that he was carrying.. No one would have been uncomfortable or nervous then (I'm sure I wasn't the only one noticing).

I absolutely believe in the right to open carry. From a practical/tactical standpoint, I don't think it's a good idea. Draws too much attention and makes avoidance, which should ALWAYS be your first plan unless confrontation is required to protect yourself or someone else, impossible.

For the record you would never catching me drinking 7-11 coffee.. Just as a hypothetical. Just my 2¢.

You can now , Angel. That recently changed. Nevada will now recognize your TX LTC. Two years ago, I paid Arizona for a non-res license so I could carry in NV. But don't need it now.
