2nd Amendment is all the permit anyone should need to carry.

Actually, I've never been in a BWW, and was really referring to establishments that do have the proper signage. It's not likely that anyone's going to notice, but if they do it's also not too likely that anything would happen but a manager or owner asking me to leave, after I apologize for "not noticing" the sign.

I carry in a retention holster, so I guess someone could in theory grab it, but it would take them a bit and they risk a heel to the balls or a dislocated knee cap. Seriously though, I also am very aware of my surrounding when I carry open or concealed. I do not want a confrontation of any kind. One of the quotes ever is “an armed society is a polite society”

......and the thing is, if I ever had to use my weapon in such a place, I'd rather suffer the consequences than to lose my life, or that of a loved one or any innocent.

Here in Iowa if a private business posts no weapons, all they can do is ask you to leave. If you refuse than you can get a trespassing. Sad thing is, the local mall (which has a sporting goods store that sells guns and a no weapon policy) had a security office shoot a lady right in the food court one afternoon. The security officer was trying to get with her, she refused so he went home and got his gun. Multiple people there had their CCP that I personally know, but didn't have it on them because of the sticker on the doors. They caught the d-bag, but, he is just going to sit in jail for a while.

I'll touch on a few points, forgive me if I ramble.
I carry concealed every day. I have open carried while setting tree stands and traveling from location to location. I've stopped at gas stations while doing that and have gotten some pretty funny looks and that was just with a little Ruger SP101 .357. Would I love to strap on my Triple K leather rig, drop in my old 3 screw Blackhawk and go to town? Sure. It's a cool lookin' rig. Do I want the negative attention it's sure to draw? Hell no!!!
I've never had to draw in public. I have had to clear my daughter's house when her ex boyfriend refused to leave. This was after waiting almost an hour for an officer to come and do it. The officer(s) never showed.
I agree that law abiding citizens should be able to carry with out a permit and wish that reciprocity would be uniform from state to state. I don't think having to have a permit is necessarily a bad thing though. I also think that if you've legally purchased a firearm, your name is on a NICS list just as it is on a DOJ list if you have a concealed license.
Lastly, I don't condone breaking the rules ;) but I carry in places that have 'no weapons' signs, like the mall. My EDC is almost impossible to spot. My safety is also MY responsibility and I'm not going to rely on Paul Blart and his key carrying cohorts to keep me safe if the shit were to hit the fan. My CCW course was big on teaching situational awareness. If something bad is going to happen, it's not going to happen to me.
