This isn’t a court of law, and this is just my opinion but...

It is unfortunate but given the information provided id side with the officers. Especially lately, they walk around with targets on their back and need to respond in the best interest of others. A loose gun during the heated moment of a fight they had to act. Again, I didn’t see the video or anything that I’m SURE is floating around somewhere, just given the blurb it seems justifiable.

I’m open to revising my opinion as more information becomes available :)

Better to be caught with it than without? Slower response time but at least you have a response instead of just seeking shelter as your only option? I’m just trying to understand lol

All this assumes the mag is somewhere else on their persons lol

A better question would be.....why walk around with a rifle unless you’re out hunting and not in a city....or a bar in those girls’ case

And in the case of you “knocking your yoked 6’3” insctructor on his ass”.......that’s why I like you! LOL

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, here in Canada they don't allow us to protect ourselves with carrying handguns. Not even in the bush. I'm not allowed to carry a handgun for bear protection while fly fishing or bowhunting.

The closest we have is open carry of antiques. Yes, you read that right. Here's how nuts our laws are. If I bought a pistol such as a Webley MKI am free to carry it and shoot it anywhere legal to shoot a non-restricted firearm. If I only own antiques, I don't even need a licence to buy them. That said, discretion is the better part of valor. Very few people I know actually carry them in the bush, since not many LEO's are educated on the common firearms laws in Canada nevermind the obscure stuff like antiques.

I prefer a short barrelled, pump action shotgun for my bush carry purposes. My current gun is a 18.5" barrelled Mossberg Maverick with over 11,000 rounds through it. Let's just say it's smooth as butter and like an extension of myself after that many rounds. I am looking into a Remington 870 stainless with a 12" barrel though for even more packability,

After much research, training, ballistic gel tests and discussions with CO's, LEO's, wildlife biologists and ballisticians I run heavy, solid slugs like Federal Deep Penetrator or Brennekke Black Magic Magic. I don't bother with buck shot, although I usually have a couple shells along with a couple bird shot shells in my pocket or pack.

    Talk about a loophole!

Loophole aside....that’s one weird and random law LOL
Not to say America doesn’t have their fair share!

In TN (where I’m at, it’s actually illegal to share your Netflix password.

In La where I’m from, you can be fined $500 if you send a pizza to someone’s house without their consent.

Concealed carry is the way to go in the city.
Open carry in the country and at BBQ's when you got a nice one to show off!

I'm pretty involved in the firearms community in Canada. If you guys are interested, I could possibly do a short summary write up of our laws (dunno if that's considered political though...)

Here's some fun reading for you about our laws on antiques. Remember, this is just antiques. We haven't touched restricted, non-restricted or prohibited yet. LOL

    http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/antique-historique-eng.htm

And a more layman's discussion on one of our firearms forums. Pretty sure you don't need to be a member of the forum to view it. If so, join up! :D

The only reason open carry is even a issue is due to all the scare tactics over the years. The problem with conceal carry is the permit it does put you on a list and you still look like a easy victim.

I agree@blue16 Az has it right- non permit ccw.
Although with a permit i can concel carry legally in 27 other states.
If they start going after people on Ccw lists we're all screwed.

Law abiding citizens should not have to have a permit to carry any way they choose in any state. As a citizen you should be able to travel from state to state and not be breaking laws or having to be a victim due to someone else's un justified fear of what if.
