I open carry when I'm in the woods on my property. 200+acres of woods back behind the house. Only because there is no reason to conceal it. It's my house.

Like so many have said, OC just makes you stick out in a bad, douchebag-in-Walmart kind of way. Not to mention it makes people uncomfortable (and with good reason what with so many morons out there)

I carry a Glock 10mm with some hot rounds in the back country. I guess it makes me feel more safe but could I draw and get on target if a bear or something else was charging? Maybe but probably not. I think two legged creatures pose more of a threat to be honest.
I don’t open carry in public. I legally can but I choose to conceal. I also have the right not to inform an officer if I get pulled over. I choose to let them know.

I prefer concealed for a whole list of reasons previously mentioned. However, I support your right to open carry but not my thing.

as a MP I like knowing that if shit hits the fan not everyone and their mom is pulling a fire arm and I don't have to guess at who the bad guy is....also lessens the risk of an active shooter (notice I didn't say stops the risk, because it doesn't). On my base they ask you at the gate "do you have a fire arm or ammo?" let's be totally honest here....if you are asking and I AM carrying that DOES NOT mean I am going to be truthful. That being said though...not everyone is an idiot when it comes to fire arms....

But I do believe that allowing people to check weapons in some place or having a place for them to lock them up should be offered. My ex is not someone I trust and feel that the first person he would take out if he went on a killing spree is me.....and I am not the only one. I can't bring my weapon on base...so every day I work on base it is a fingers crossed he doesn't try some stupid shit and try to do something to me. It is aggravating and frustrating.

We can carry on base. Has to stay locked in the vehicle though.

The thought process is not that you want it on base, but the drive in to work.

I don’t know about that. Where I live there are plenty of ranchers and cowboys that open carry and from the looks of them I would say they could handle themselves just fine.

I ran into a rancher along 285 near Como mending his fence. He was carrying a big old smoke wagon. My guess is he knew how to use that thing quite well.

Can, but don't. A number of establishments in TX don't allow it (yet will allow concealed carry), and I feel it's better not to advertise that I'm carrying anyway.

And as to those who don't allow either open or concealed, well, I tend to be an outlaw.

Yeah a little, I rent a 2br/1ba for $600. I grew up in Fort Morgan, and by the time I move back idk if I’ll be able to afford anything bigger than an outhouse. Housing to rent or buy is stupid high for a small town.
