There’s many. These people then use some of that money to buy another property for the sole purpose of turning it into a playground.

If you don’t mind exploiting your children like Britney Spears or the Jackson 5, it’s a wonderful business model.

It is a significant downgrade from the previous gen, but it doesn’t come into play for us a lot. Groceries are really the only thing that ever gets hauled in that truck, so ultimately it’s not a deal breaker.
If someone was looking to haul camping equipment or something I’d see it being a big problem. You not only lose the vertical space, but I wouldn’t trust that shelf in the back with very much weight.

The third row also has a lot less legroom, but once again it’s not something we have to worry about often.

I stopped the video when he said the predator steps are more for off-road use. haha
I like his channel, down to the earth, but I do think there is a lot of the gap fillers in his videos where he could just get to the point and save the viewers some time.

I lucked out this time and BOUGHT my 2010 new. Issue free at 88,000 miles. When and if I'm in the market again, I'll have to decide but I'll be BUYING something a little older than these nanny infested 3rd gen... "trucks".

since this is about the tundra review, I am going to do a shameless plug of my own review video, I know it's a 2nd gen instead of a 3rd gen but I feel its somewhat relevant. Also please be gentle when roasting haha.

The assessment of the new tundra here sums up everything I've tried to articulate about it since it hit the streets. It's like Toyota felt like the sales payoff trying to knock the big 3 out of the top of class in a bunch of categories in 2007 was not big enough so a lot of things were left as "Good enough to be comparable" this time. I did not go Toyota this time but I honestly am rooting for them to sort out initial quality issues and get back to their normal standards. I think there is a good chance that will happen. I am guessing computer tuning has left some room for mid cycle power increases, and maybe a generator can be thrown into the hybrid in a couple years. Can't put everything on the table in year one of a new Gen I guess, gotta save something for mid cycle improvements.

Their explanation is more believable to me than the “The focus groups said they don’t need that” excuses some people want to make here or that supposedly came from Sweers.

And yet it would appear that real world owners who actually put more than 50 miles on their truck or watch the 2 most viral "5 Complaints About My Truck" youtube video have mostly positive reviews.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/are-you-happy-with-your-purchase-or-have-regrets.117399/

Motortrend isn't exaclty a quality source either. Look at Motortrends review of the 2021 F150. I drive the exact truck they tested every day at work and there's 100+ of them in our fleet. Their review is complete bunk, I can pick apart virtually every single claim they make about the truck.

No doubt Toyota could have improved in areas. Having not owned any previous gen Tundra, I still really enjoy mine. You’ll continue to have the usual previous gen offenders post any and everything negative they can find. The “I told you so Cru” is alive and well.

I read their f150 review and it was such high level non specific drivel. Funny they didn’t mention the engine they boast about , powerboost, got a do not buy from consumer reports

So a bunch of confirmation bias testimonials are valid, but a review from an automotive journalist who drives pretty much everything isn’t?

Not saying the car rag writer or YouTuber is without bias, but someone who just spent $55K-$70K is far more likely to want to defend their purchase and self confirm they made the right choice.

People become emotionally invested in their decisions, especially when those decisions cost a lot of $$$. I’ve seen it with everything from cars, and trucks to firearms, and business decisions.

And a car reporter is likely to say “nice” things about the advertiser who spends the most on their mag and vice versa. Talk about confirmation bias. Sure people will defend their purchases, especially those that cost a lot of $$$. Same is true for spouses or significant others or whatever you want to calyours. No judgement here.

I have observed a lot of Toyota adds in the pages of Motortrend.

So by your logic they hated it even more than they let on.

Didn’t say the had no advertising, just not the most or most expensive. As far as confirmation bias, just because someone doesn’t rant that they bought a piece of shit doesn’t prove confirmation bias.

I said a few months ago, I don’t think the Tundra is a bad truck but it just didn’t feel like Toyota was trying to be as competitive this time around as they did in 2007. Now two publications have recently supported that. C&D coming right out and saying they think Toyota just didn’t see a big enough sales payoff in trying that hard after seeing how the Gen2 was first in class in so many categories and still never became a major player.

You are probably right. Toyota is definitely not trying to outdo the big 3. Technology, interior quality/comfort, ability to special order. They aren’t trying hard. I guess enough diehards will buy a brand no matter what. Just look at Ford.

I wonder what it says about the future of Tesla that the level of competition in EVs is to the point where they're needing to offer these sorts of discounts.
