I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.

Not a very positive review, but fair and unfortunately accurate given similar issues posted by other owners here.

Toyota trucks are not living up to the Toyota reputation.

    Rci skid plate,
Yeah. I’m totally digging my truck. This is a bias review. Yes the truck has short coming for a first year but it’s a first year truck. If they fix the infotainment this truck is light years ahead of the last one. If you haven’t towed with it and the old one you have no idea the power it has. Like I have said in the past I have towed 10k over the highway mountain in nj 1822ft with less issues then the last generation.

Tim is a good guy and does a pretty good job reviewing. He's just more a normal guy doing reviews. Ive talked with him numerous times over the years.

just my 02, but I like his videos and Im not so much a toyota homer that the second something is negative, its bias, etc.

the fuckin seat was hanging off and cheap ass POS plastic, many on here have had that and the infotainment system problems, I didn't find it bias about the review.

I think it was pretty easy on it for a first year pandemic built truck.

I would like to know if toyota has an upgraded part like someone in the comments wrote, that would help out many people here and maybe offer us in the market for one some reassurance .

    Good question.

Ownership/constructive reviews we don’t have problems with. The members coming in 3rd Gen threads just to start problems is when that policy come’s into play.

I wish there was a way to see percentage of total owners that are having a specific issue with their 22/23 Tundra. I’m just shy of 10,000 miles and have had zero issues. Probably just jinxed myself.

I like this channel and I think it’s a honest review from his personal perspective. Other owners see these as non-issues.

The seat plastic, rear bumper, and tow hooks would make it a more difficult purchase for my family.

@Coal Dragger has some threads going with Turbo problems and other issues. Check the stickied section at the top of the 3rd Gen section. He has put some time into putting this together and has good content.

I watched this yesterday. I think Tim is fairly accurate and factual. I will say though - if you go back and watch all his videos about the 3rd gen, it is clear he never liked it from the start. MPG was a major factor for him. So I didn't expect a glowing review here. The reality is we all value things differently, so one big deal to one person, is not a big deal to another. I think the fact is that the 3rd gen has a lot of demand, so to me actions speak louder than words - people want this truck for a reason over the competition. Time will tell if that strong demand continues, and if these trucks hold their value like previous generations though

I think the strong demand is pent up demand from Toyota faithful who have 1st or 2nd Gen trucks they’re trading out of.

The new 3rd Gen might be light years ahead of the 2nd Gen in some ways (clearly not seat trim, bumpers, recovery hooks, exterior trim), but in the broader context of the rest of the 1/2 ton market the new Tundra is mediocre so far.

Those of us who don’t own 2nd or 3rd gens(like the OP) can talk smack because were not a bunch of kool aid drinking v8 nutswinggers(like 2nd gener) or trying to justify a crappy purchase(like 3rd geners)

I get that thought, but when i tested them all I didn’t find it mediocre.

the ford powerboost broke down on the test drive and the gmc at4 6.2 refresh I tested , the seats were so awful I ended the test early.

at least the tundra only had wind noise and hitting the bump stops with the incorrectly set air suspension on the test drive lol

all things considered I’m going with another tundra this time around. They do need to keep improving the issues but that’s what’s Toyota is pretty good at and over time they usually stand behind what they make.

that said, I didn’t want a first year build.

I can’t buy a Tundra until it is clearly demonstrated that the seat issue, and bumper fitment issues are solved.

I don’t expect a seat fix since Toyota wants to claim it is wear and tear.

At this point there’s not a single 1/2 ton for sale today that is worth the asking price in my opinion.

I watched it last night and had watched some of his other 2022 Tundra/other vehicle reviews. Seems pretty fair generally and they are “normal” current year truck users where their day to day is around town with minimal tow/haul so their complaints will be more centered on unloaded mpg, head-unit technology, driving and entry/exit. They also have said in this video and prior videos they have owned and liked many Toyotas.

I’m not sure about other manufacturers and how they consider their warranty, but the fact that the 3yr/36k mile warranty is “limited” says it all, things like issues with an AC system may not covered under warranty due to harsh climate (great for me, NOT!) and the seat trim issue has me constantly worrying about how I’m sitting and getting in and out the truck, after all it’s wear and tear

That wasn’t that bad of a review.

Whatever. I’m 16,000 miles in. Averaging right at 19mpg, my seat is fine, and my truck recognizes me as a person.

I think the biggest issue with Tim's Tundra is when it was built. He picked up an early production truck with all the growing pains associated with a new model. Mine was built in late August when most of the early issues were fixed and I haven't experienced any issues. I still get a little misty thinking about the 2014 Limited I traded in but no regrets so far.

I’m not a fanboy and will admit these tundras ain’t perfect and the normal complaints . This guy reviewing are some of the weaker videos on YouTube . I tried to watch numerous times but he’s an idiot and what he chooses to put in his videos puts him into the lowest of the YouTube reviewers . You have to be idiotic to find him relevant .
