Ok I am on information overload ... have had
2007 5.7 crew cab (that I love & will never get rid of that needs TLC) forever

I have my mind made up on bilstein 5100s & I like the rake

Simply ... do I need shackles or add a leaf or nothing in rear to make rear end solid while loaded up or towing dump trailer

    Thanks

Keep the 5100s on the first clip to keep the rake, and you could look into a bigger leaf pack or an add a leaf or airbags for the rear

Have completed the install of 5100s on front & rear
Also included AAL section (After taking her apart I also decided on new rear rotors pads n calipers)

I have lift of about 2.25 front & 1.5 in rear

    It's perfect for my taste

2 things that just drove me nuts ...
    1. Getting basic parts & tools that I didn't have
    2. F'ng rust, locked bolts, broken heads, etc

Probably took me 2 solid days of work to get finished

This forum, it's members, advice, trouble shooting were a huge huge help ... thanks

Great looking trucks on here. I must have searched for 2 years before pulling the trigger. I wasn't looking for a massive look, just take out the rake and lift a little to set apart from stock. Was going to go with spacers but had 100K and came across someone that just installed new coilovers. I figured, hey, get some lift and new shocks at the same time. So went with a set of adjustable coilovers from Uncle Bob's garage. Adjustable up to 3". Which was good since my truck had like 2.75" of rake which after talking to guys at ToyTech and measuring ones on lots, is A LOT.

The new coilovers actually gave me almost 3.25" of lift in the front. With that I was just about level but any weight in the bed would make it squat. So just installed some beefy new shackles from ProForm Fabrication. Now I'm a little high in the back, but barely and looks great.

I'm rocking some TRD pro fox shocks getting about 2" in the front on some icon rebound 18x9 +25 with some 275/70r18 Falken Wildpeak at3w. This setup rides like a dream and is worlds better than my previous setup with 20" stocks and 295/55r20 BFG km3s. I thought the 275s would look too small, but they actually look pretty good. I know I could have fit 295s, but it was more economical for me to go smaller. new look side profile .jpg

Bilstein 5100's set at the top notch up front with one coachbuilder shim on the driver's side, and no rear lift. 315/70r17 Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T tires.

I did a little exploring today and thoroughly enjoyed how this setup handles! These tires produce some incredible off-road grip.

After reading all this I have a question. I’ll be passing my 2nd gen down to my son soon and am getting it ready for him. I need tires now though. I’d like to put a 295/70/18 on it but won’t be putting the Rough Country 2” lift on it for a few months. Will it be driveable? (Ie. I know it will scrub but can I get by till the lift goes on?)

If not, what is the biggest size I can get on it stock? I see it says 285/65/18. Just wondering if I can get by bigger for a month or two.

This was a good thread and taught me a lot. Thanks for all your input.

Where did you get the wheel well liners? I had to remove mine with the 37's because there was not enough room and it looks like yours are not factory but hard to tell in that pick, I can only see a little bit behind the tire towards the frame

I would have liked 4" but I would have been happy if I could have gotten the advertised 3" from @ICON but not possible

jrh1010; - I did the 295/50/20 on my stock suspension and it did rub a bit. and although I now have a level kit on it rub a little on extreme hard lock until the tire wear down a bit then it stops.

TOP: OEM height, 20" wheel, and tire size.
BOTTOM: Method wheels 20x9/25mm offset, Duratrac 275/60R20. No rubbing.
    Lifted - 0.jpg

TOP: OEM ride height (Methods wrapped in Duratracs, listed above). In all honesty, this is where I wish I left the truck alone and not gone "bigger". I bought it to haul dirt bikes and tow my rock crawler, which it did perfectly... then I ruined it by lifting it, haha!
BOTTOM: 3/2 lift (any brand, scAmazon special). Looked like it "skipped leg day" and opened the door to more.
    Lift - 1 and 2.jpg

6 months after the 3/2 lift, I ruined it some more and installed a Rough Country 6" lift w/ the dump-truck N3 struts, as well as stepped up to 35x12.50s.
At full lock the tires would rub the sway bar and just barely scrub the OE mud flaps.
    Lift - 3.jpg

As it stands today (fully ruined): Replaced the 4x N3 struts with RC Vertex 2.5 Adjustable 6" Coil Overs w/ remote reservoirs and RC Vertex 2.5 adjustable rear shocks w/ reservoirs. OE leaf springs and lift blocks were supplanted by Skyjacker Soft Ride springs, Ekstrom Coachbuilder +1" shackles, and Rough Country 6" air springs and RC air spring cradles (not a relevant contribution to ride height, but used to compensate for the soft ride springs). Yes, it has a slight rake, which levels out with a dirt bike and gear in the back.
Tires are 37x12.50 Patagonia MTs (going to 13.50s once these wear out) wrapped over 20x9.5/12mm offset Black Rhino wheels resting on 1.25 wheel spacers. At full lock (and before lock) they rub and they rub bad! I have done a body mount chop but the tires still rub against my overpriced mud flaps.

Seriously David Ekstrom is the best provides excellent customer service.
Dont kill me but i did not get a print out of my numbers after alignment, It was a big job adjusting the UCA and tie rod but the feedback was incredible. Factor spec for sure and man the tie rod really helped with the bump steer and tightening up with everything.

Next up new deaver leaf springs, coach builder 1.75 shackle so i can remove the harsh block, and new rear shocks.

Seeing that you’ve had the RC vertex suspension for a while, how do you like it? I’ve been going back and forth for a while trying to decide on a brand for remote reservoir shocks.

Did you have to do any trimming to get the 37's to fit or was the lift enough? Any rubbing?

I bought some Rock Warrior wheels and expecting to put a 3" lift. Thinking of going with 35's...but if 37's fit...
