You just made a lot of sense.

The fires have been horrible in southern CO/northern NM.

My wife and I have a tradition of watching that movie every year while we are wrapping presents. Such a funny movie.

Have had both. We just downsized our fake this year from a 9 footer (very full) that was a pain to a 7.5 footer. I wished we had got after Christmas last year, the 9 ft. was bought after season many years ago. Hobby Lobby has the %50 off right now.

I grew up with real trees and my wife with artificial. When we first got married my wife insisted on a real tree.

Our tradition every year with the kids is to drive around to half a dozen tree lots in search of the “perfect” tree. We usually end up back at the first lot.

Disposal here is easy - our garbage service includes recycling of 1 tree per year.

We’ve had a fake for probably 7-8 years. Best decision yet. I think she got it during BF sales. I hated cleaning up the pines, and watering it; not to mention disposal after.

When we were kids in CT we always got real trees, my job was to keep it watered, before school, right after school, in the evening and before bed.

Mom always like the Fraziers over the dougfirs.

When we were older and had moved here to Oklahoma we got the fake tree.

The store here will give away any left over trees on the 26th to who ever wants them, as others have mentioned if you have a pond toss a few in for structure for fish

Mine gets stuck in the front yard for the birds for the rest of the winter then cut up and used for kindling when it warms up.

Or if I'm lazy chucked over the bank back you nature:)

We rock the fake 2 footer on our kitchen table. It’s just my wife and I and I refuse to put lights on my house. I already waste a ton of electricity with my turtles 240 gallon enclosure with heat lamps and lights. Plus she just leaves it decorated in the box and pulls it out of box and done with Christmas decorations in 5 minutes. Now my moms house is another story. It looks like the North Pole threw up all over the house and takes my mom over a week to decorate inside and out. Not a fan. I tell her it’s too much, but not my house or energy bill. Fake tree all the way. I can work on my house or truck instead of wasting time on decorations. If I had kids I might care to do decorations. More than likely not. I never cared for it as a child so I doubt most kids care about the decorations or tree. Kids only care about what they got for Christmas. Give them the option to have decorations and a real tree and no presents or presents and no tree and I bet they will take the presents over the tree.

But if you have good kids then maybe they might chose to give presents to the less fortunate as a third option.

We have a fairly high end pre lit fake tree. The more expensive ones have more lights. The cheaper ones have fewer lights. We just put ours up yesterday as has been our tradition after turkey day. My wife is Hispanic so there’s quite a few sombreros hanging. Lol. Not to mention she buys 10 ornaments every year it seems like.

We always went with a real tree. Last year our tree included a free surprise spiders nest.

This year I would like to go with a fake tree, preferably a prelit LED, however I can't find any that get good reviews. I may go with an unlit and string it up ourselves, which is sort of tradition-y.

So far so good in our pre lit LED. It’s been three years I think. I love it because I never liked wrapping all the light strings. Lol

I’m sorry to say we have fake. Not the same. The scouting trip with crazy family freaking out are part of the memories haha. Plus the smell. I miss the smell. But like the rest. It’s far less work and mess. I’m just a sell out!

I’ve always been real. Makes the house smell nice and it’s the only thing we’ve ever done. My wife came from a family of fakes but she even said she would never go back

I always grew up with a real tree and I do miss the smell. But, this is so much easier and now it’s all my children know. I guess for my girls the tradition now is to set up with Christmas music and a few good Christmas movies while decorating.
The tradition has changed but the new memories will never go away.

We have a 7' pre-lit fake that we bought at an after Christmas sale a few years ago. It takes me 2 minutes to set it up and another few to put some decorations on it.
Christmas is not about the tree for us, so whatever is easiest is what works for me.
