NSV Light Bar Install Tips

So my DRL on the NSV dim when the headlights are on, but the DRL are always on no matter what. Anyone have any idea why that may be?

 

Do you have a DRL switch on the panel? It should toggle those drls. I am also almost positive you DRL don’t dim or shouldn’t dim. At least that’s the info I got from headlight revolution when I installed mine about 4 months ago.

 

Yeah I have the DRL switch on the panel. They definitely dim. I’ll post pics in a few minutes. Gotta go snap em.

So they are with headlights off, parking lights on and headlights on. The NSV sims as soon as the Peking lights are turned on.

again, the only thing I did not do on the install was the blue jumper wire.

 

To me this looks like the top pic. It’s hard to tell because the dimming effect may be due to the headlights making the drls seem dimmer. I covered my lights with a towel and was able to see that they don’t actually dim although it was tricky to see. I don’t have an answer for your

 

I’ve done it in front of glass and you can actually see them dim. Lemme see if I can do a short video.

if you say so I don’t doubt you. None of the above people have drls that dim so maybe they changed it? @Headlight Revolution should chime in soon.

 

This is why I’m perplexed. The switch does nothing, but they dim when the parking lights or headlights are turned on. I like the feature, I just wan the ability to turn them off by the switch if I’d like to.

it may be something to do with the blue jumper I never installed.

 

I was under the impression the blue jumper didn’t need to be done. I thought that was something for older models, but HR doesn’t always send out the most current instructions. I just installed it. Didn’t jump anything and it works exactly as described.

 

i Appreciate all the responses. Hopefully someone else will have run across this and shed some light on what may be the issue. Wish I had a wiring diagram so I could try and run it down myself.

So crazy. You think they would have this figured out. You can plainly see earlier in the thread HR said it doesn’t dim. This video was from 2018 and he says it does dim. So crazy. Hopefully you get it figured out.

 

The wire for your pin #8 has been moved...or your pin #3 is now filled...I thought the v1 harness and instructions enabled the DRLs to dim....just spitballing ideas, but are you sure on your pinouts to the bar itself? Cool/not cool feature...if can be toggled...

 

I’m 100% certain the connector is pinned correctly. That was the first, second and third thing I checked. My DRL switch does absolutely nothing, so I cannot toggle the dimming either.

Yes especially what we paid, mine do not look like they dim , however the DRL switch operates them regardless of what the light status is ....also it is not mentioned In the owners manual, yet says the switch operates the strobe . Personally I like the DRL switch

 

This is exactly how mine works. I think this is how it functions. I’m guessing

So did you skip port 3? There is no pin 3. Did you start pin 1 at the correct location? Verify you plugged the pins in order.

 

Here’s the other connector. Took my hood bulge apart to snap these so hoping they help!

 

So everything is correct on my plug. Pin 3 is open as it should be. I even pulled the orange thing and ensured all the pins were seated this go round. Same results. I’m stumped.

 

Something wrong with your harness or something in think. I’d contact the seller and get a replacement.

 

When it stops raining and I have some time, I’m gonna pull out the power probe and see what I have on each pin. Then see if I can figure out what the deal is and if I can work around or correct it.
