Oh yes, of that I'm aware! It is one of my burdens, but I am going to be in the need of some better towing capacity for a few yrs without sacrificing interior cabin space.

I have never compared my interior size to other full sized trucks intentionally. I presumed mine is smaller, but I know not by that much. Don't know any GM owners so.... buddies all have Rams! Headroom, flat floor and underseat storage + My trunk rocks! The non hybrid at least keeps underseat storage for me. But I think I will enjoy the heated / cooled seats, and ability to do carplay/gps and have cameras ( all absent on my current veh)

The irony, I get some of the prior gen guys issues. I am not getting a 2nd gen Ridgeline partially for some of the same reasons, lost cabin size, storage cubbies, & some improvements are marginal etc.

Yea, I had a gen 1 Ridgeline for 10 years and 275k miles. It was great. Agree that the 2nd gen is not as good.

So this is going back a few years but I remember the first time I started in on the tight trail leading to our cabin in the Tundra for the first time. It felt like those movies where the trees come alive and close in on you. Really wide. I mean the truck! Branches/leaves touching where the Ridgeline had slipped right through.

Well the new 2022 Tundra outside dimensions are even wider now (aren't they?) and it has that narrow line of sight and wider turning circle.

    Hmmmm..........

there is a good road under these leaves. imagine after it rains or first snow fall ?

surprisingly the Toyota paint on Tundra holds up well. Marks when wiped seem to disappear.
    The Ridgeline silver couldn't tell.
But the two 4Runners before, and two Cherokees before the 4runners (all black) showed if scraped,
but were small enough to squeeze through most of it without touching.

I think the new Tundra is ‘only’ 2 in wider than the Ridge.

The trail pinstripes below on my Tacoma would clean up with a claybar and not be noticeable. I don't off-road the Tundra much because it's just too big and not really suitable for the trails in my region.

The new 22 Tundra CrewMax is plenty big if you come from a smaller car or truck. The point here is that the interior (front and back) is a few inches smaller and not as usable as the competition which means they did not care enough to design it properly. Flat bottom helps with a person sitting in the back in the middle. Have you tried sitting in the middle? Where are your feet going? To the left and right if the hump in the other peoples foot areas…. It’s pathetic. A dog can’t sit comfortable on a 4” raised hump! But hey they made the hood longer so that’s Awesome! Toyota or whoever were the designers should be fired!

How many grown adults do you know who make a habit of sitting in the middle of the rear seat of a crewmax Tundra? This kinda sounds like the people who are mad that it is missing recovery hooks they’ve never used on any other truck.

I found its more so the added height (TRD) and longer added length, less manoeuvrable, combined with the added width. The truck is reaching up to the branches.

The new Tundra does imo, have wider appeal - younger families. SUV alternative. Its based on an SUV frame after all.

Saw a 1794 driving around in my neighborhood today. The amount of chrome spattered all over that truck should be a crime. It was hideous.

Yup, why I won't buy it but willing to give the new Sequoia a very hard look.

The big advantage of a truck is you do not need a trailer for those times you need a platform for toys, oversize items or dirty items.
Not having to deal with yet another trailer is a big deal for me.
Any SUV means I will need to get a trailer, because i will use it that much, and have to find a place to store it and maintain it.
Can't believe how many trailer plates there are lying around. Where did they all come from ? Sell a trailer keep the plate - forgetaboutit - 8^0
No one wants to be pulling a trailer behind their truck, if whatever you are pulling will fit in the bed. (somehow)
I had a "Come to Jesus" moment when my son traded in his STI late last year for a 4Runner.
I looked at it and it brought back alot of great memories. And for 75% of what I need to put in my bed, its a much better option in every category. Damn it. It even has full time 4wd and the roll down rear window I remember ! And the Sequoia has even more room.
But then I looked at the ATV, the snowblower, the aluminum boat that goes in the bed, the 5 person pelican pedal boat, the cord of wood, pipes, list goes on....
    Different horses for courses....

This is spot on. Depends on what is the balance between needing the bed for "dirty"/bigger stuff and not. And the other part of this is a truck comes with a substantial fuel MPG penalty as compared to an SUV, which could mean more as we head into higher fuel prices that may well be permanent. I don't have a place to store a utility trailer but then most "dirty" jobs I do could be handled in an SUV with a Weathertec liner in the back. Not ideal but it would work. So, I am still not sure what I will be doing for my next vehicle...

Different horses definitely. I get annoyed doing large Costco runs because all I have is the bed for crap to slide around in.

That said I don't plan on trading in my 2.5 if we get the Sequoia for the very reasons you mention.

On a side note, seeing that ugly as sin 1794. The bed looked odd. Couldn't put my finger on it but sitting behind it, maybe it's the bed height that didn't look normal? Maybe it was the rake? I dunno. Just looked off/weird to me.

I'm curious how many of you guys complaining about the new Tundra being on an "SUV frame" would sell your first borns to get an FJ40.

I like the philosophy of you don't buy a boat, just get friends who have then.

Same is true when I need a trailer. ;)

I considered a Sequoia when I bought my truck primarily because it would fit in the garage and the Tundra does not. But the Sequoia has lower payload and towing numbers, slightly worse fuel economy and cost at least $10k more. If the costs are more in line on the 3rd Gen, maybe it would make sense over the Tundra.

That's another option for sure. In this instance the Uhaul was $18 bucks and I had to shovel it in the wheelbarrow either from the ground or the trailer. The trailer is a little easier on my back.

Just saying it's another solution for buying an SUV rather than a truck for some folks. Not sure what any of this has to do with the new Tundra tho.
