Sorry for bringing up an old thread. I have this exact issue, upgraded the speakers and amp in my 2020 TRD PRO and started to have this problem few months ago. Is there a fix to this, is the HU going bad, aftermarket amp causing the issue or did you all just live with it?

Hello, I know this is an Old thread but I experienced this problem as well and just found a work around that may help. After installing an LC7i and 2 amps myself I couldn't get any volume from head unit at all....
I spent a couple weeks scratching my head checking for continuity in my harness, until I discovered that when using the remote out from the harness would cause there to be no volume meter and no output from the HU.
I just used the GTO(Great Turn On) feature from the LC7 to turn on both amps and now im up and running. Thanks for all the info here and I know this won't work for everyone but I hope someone can benefit- peace.
