I have Nitto Ridge Grappler LT295/70R18 E-rated tires on my Tundra. They have 27k miles on them, and I've religiously rotated them every 5k miles; I keep them around 40PSI (though I might try the chalk test after reading some other posts here).

    Pros
They are offered in kooky sizes, such as 295/70, which is the perfect size for my lift (35s rub a little too much)

The sidewalls really stand up to very regular rocky jabs from shale, crunching over gnarly desert pokey shrubs, and sidewall-slides off of rocks and roots. From this I definitely want to stick to a 10-ply (E-rated) sidewall.

    They have good offroad traction.

They are narrow enough to do good in the snow and ice. I drive like a grandpa though so that helps.

    Cons
In the last 5k miles, they have become unbearably loud

As you can see from the picture they are cupping on the inside

The tread is too low to use safely over the winter -- remember, these tires have 27k miles on them. Apparently they do not offer a tread-life warranty, gee I wonder why

After offroading a few times on loose rock in the Nevada desert, the knobs and sidewalls had large bits chunked up, very similarly to this poster on 4runners.

To me the mileage warranty alone that the Toyo offers is enough to sway me toward the at3s. That and the fact that my AT2s currently have 55k miles on them and could easily do another 5k miles. I have had a lot of friends run RG’s and I’m not impressed seem like a quick wearing tire.

Seems the Ridge Grapplers are pretty popular with the mild rock crawlers. That tells me they are on the soft side and maybe not a 55k-60k mile tire. See them on the trails a lot though.

Great info here. Thanks everyone for contributing!!

Looking at pulling the trigger on the AT III in 295/70/18. I have the Bilstein 5100s on middle setting and have removed all my mudflaps so hoping for no rub.

I had the Toyo ATIII 35x12.50r18 on my Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi. They were awesome in all weather and handled snow nicely. They had a slight hum that you could only hear with radio off. Way quieter than Duratracs but not as quiet as K02s.

I liked them well enough I’m going to get a set in LT275/70R18 for my Tundra. The MPG and power loss with 35s was noticeable on the Ram and it had an 8 speed transmission and 4.10 gears.

I have 50k on my RGs and am at about 4/32” tread left at the lowest point. I’ll end up squeezing right about 55k with them. We don’t get much snow/ice here if any so I’ll replace them in the spring.
