Same thing happened with my Toyos. Everyone was watching, how embarrassing

Ridge Grapplers have not disappointed in deep slush, snow and ice. We just got dumped on beginning with warm heavy snow and slush 5-6 inches. Then another 10-14 inches of dry fluffy wind blown snow on top. I plowed a couple driveways with them and they worked great. Emergency travel only conditions and the Ridge Grapplers did not disappoint me. Ive had these tires since May and have been used in all conditions. These tires are really good in every condition! However not the best in any! Except the quietest tire I have owned! But if your concern if solely for snow and ice I would suggest something different. Don’t overlook the Falken AT3W these are probably the best selling tire around here? I just hate how bad they throw rocks, and poor clean out in sticky mud.
After this picture we got another 10+ inches!

Snow isnt my main concern but i a deciding factor in my decision. It snows often here in colorado but it's not mountain snow. I dont want to get stuck or slide all over the road on snow days. I want an all around dry and wet performance and aggressive and trail capable. If that exists in a tire.

Just got back after being out in the snow with the Toyo AT3's. They were fine for a bit, but I started slipping coming down hills. Slipping pretty bad in 4Hi. Had to get in 4lo to get going once I came to a stop. This was 2-3 inches of snow on asphalt. A bit concerning. Snow is a little wet, so that could be the problem. Never had similar issues with the Duratracs on my Ram or Jeep. I also have a camper on the back, so that should help with added weight. Another truck was having issues going up the hill, so maybe it was just the location. Something to consider. Definitely shook my confidence in the tires.

How long have you been running that back-asswards plow, and how do you like it? I've been looking at those...

5 years! Just don’t want to put a front receiver hitch on, because off road it cuts my approach angle way down. Works fine with the backup camera.. I had 40 acres on my previous property and a long gravel driveway with uneven landscaping. This was perfect because it glides over the large rocks and uneven surfaces. The only con is it has a rubber cutting blade so it doesn’t cut through hard packed snow. There is a tie down strap that help keep the blade down and is a must have. It is impressive how much snow it can move and worked far better than I expected.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. That being said, I got the Nitto’s because I’ve read they are quieter than the Toyo’s. That and the Nitto’s have that nice aggressive look.87EAB9AE-ADDF-49DB-858A-BFEA10479884.jpg

To anyone having issues in the snow with Nitto, what PSI you running at?

I did the chalk test on mine and I now keep them at 30 psi.

The dude that installed them put them at 45. Way too high.

It just started snowing here, and I am looking forward to doing some snow driving this weekend

RG does excellent in the snow.
That’s coming from experience in Colorado snow, New Mexico snow, Kansas snow, Ohio snow, Virginia snow and Alabama snow... which are all different.
I wouldn’t run them in the Florida snow, that gets expensive!

If you choose the ridge grappler it’s only because you want a beefier side knob look. Overall performance will be much better with the AT3 imo. I haven’t owned either. And apparently tinder dates care much less about your tire choice than I originally believed :)

271BDDAB-F8CB-4B36-B779-0BF702EC6DB1.jpg Pretty sticky and I don’t hate them. Could’ve sent me sideways but always hooked up. “That’s what she said” if I was buying now it would be a ridiculous choice for me to buy RG unless you’re trying to impress a diesel F boy. Sorry all with those but it’s just true. Toyo AT3 is the company’s newest tread pattern. Why would you buy an outdated tread design at this point just to look cool?
And at this point I’d probably only choose the AT3 toyo to try something new. I’m totally happy with my falken and I’ve used them harder than most.

Had a brand new set of RG running in 18” fresh, in Colorado Springs and Florissant and had to literally make them break loose in 4H.
    It was a blast!

Would’ve been more fun with adequate siping. But it’s okay they’re brand new and of course they hook up. And I don’t know any difference because I live in SC :)
ECD5E67B-0983-4C5B-B836-704E14FFFF56.jpg I’ll drive up to elevation for a little snow fun. Unfortunately guy in black Tundra had BFG and less driving experience and kissed the guardrail trying to to keep up with me (never met the guy he just tried keeping up) We had a good moment up top talking trucks though.2596E288-3565-4B28-81C6-424A13AB167E.jpg

Mine had about 1500 miles on them.

Much better than Alabama snow. That shits tricky.

That east coast snow is a slush bucket.

I had a set of Ridge Grapplers on my previous 2016 Tundra. They wore quickly (about 20k miles) and had terrible wet/snow traction. Would not buy again. I currently have DuraTracs, and they are holding up better than the Ridge Grapplers. Will probably go with Toyo or Falken next time around.

    20k miles?

    That’s low.

Been through 3 sets with no less than 50k on every set, in the Alabama heat.

Currently have a 4yr old set of RGs. Unfortunately wont be buying them again. They lost most of their wet traction at about 25k miles, now they're at 40k and even though they still have 10/32nds they're done. Traction in the rain is a constant concern, I've even had to adjust driving to accommodate them. Traction in deep snow is still fine, but dusting and slush is a no go.

I've run plenty of other tires, cant say anything bad about any of the Coopers Ive ran. Will be trying Toyo At3s next though, should have them installed within a week or two. Hopefully they're quieter than my RGs, they got considerably noisy at about 30k miles.

So far so good. I have them set at 1 up above the lowest setting on the DSC and the ride is almost as smooth as stock. Haven’t had enough time riding on them to provide a review of any real substance quite yet.

Did you adjust the height on the coilovers before you installed them or did you just leave them how they came out of the box?

Had three co-workers with same exact issue on nitto tires. i am on my second set to of toy tires. last set was ATII, got 80 thousand miles and had tread on them when got new ones for the winter. Now have too AT111, been great in mountains and on the beach.
