did you do the brake bypass? Maybe that’s why you couldn’t view videos. Do the bypass so you can at anytime.

Check radio for latest firmware version. Update if needs.
Next, i would call pioneer tech support and see why it would not let you accept the term.

Its the only direct thing i can put my mind on. Im going to check firmware this afternoon. After speaking with crutchfield tech its all we could come up with.

the most current firmware is 2.01.

Id like to solve it but really doesn’t matter. Carplay is used 99%

Can confirm firmware 2.01 does not change anything with the clock.

    FB120B28-56CD-4A7C-90DA-82564267F1A6.jpg

It does however change the look of carplay. All words and icons are smaller. Map screen seems a little bigger?? And, it gives you an option to run “pioneer functions” with carplay.

    old carplay layout
    2615C56D-2C29-4BAC-93CC-E2CF5153B2E6.jpg

    New carplay layout
    9F1D69E2-2E57-47AC-8678-E6F342954E6D.jpg

With “pioneer functions”. Triggered by the arrow icon in top left of carplay screen.
    E27C0D42-D4F2-4FAE-853C-1209F2AD1ACF.jpg
I see no benefits in the new pioneer functions along side carplay.

so, in the end, i just deleted the clock from the home screen. Oh well….

Nice to have but not needed due to carplay. Im not real interested in fishing the pioneer gps antenna when everything else is perfect.

    Got in there today and got some of my work done;

    - found out why the USB port isn’t transferring data or charging the iPhone….

The USB C port is shown below (circled in yellow). To use it, you use the USB to USB C adapter.
    4895F8AA-9544-4C31-882C-D23440C87594.jpg
The one that comes with the HU is pretty cheap, and I did manage to break it when I mounted the head unit initially.
I’ve ordered a replacement that should arrive tomorrow.

I lengthened the bracket mounting holes and got the HU in another 1/8” or so.

Doing this has the effect of holding the top of the HVAC panel in place tightly. I will see how this works, and it may eliminate the need for a fabricated bracket in there.

Now I’m going to use some gasket material I purchased to try to hide the gap around the face.

I broke that little adapter on the 7600 in my 4runner. This time i used the supplied cable w/90 degree to plug into the head unit, then the adapter (C to USB).

Do me a big favor Panicman, if you have the time, need pictures of gap along topside. i have weatherstripping, which helps a little bit, but I'm still not happy with gap. It is irritating to say the least.

Ok, here is what I did, and I can go back and take any other pics as needed.

I bought the highest quality German (ahem) rubber weather seal, Amazon, $12.
    CC45671A-31B7-41AA-864B-BDEE20343695.jpg
I pulled the HU out and trimmed 2 strips to run along each side.
    6B2E86FC-C5BE-43FD-ACC1-534189A213F4.jpg
I wiped the back side and edges of the face with isopropyl, and pressed my seals into place.
    9AF62910-897E-41AE-AEA6-E111FA759C83.jpg
I test fitted it back in the opening, and I am pleased with how it turned out.

    DCFA66D0-0E4D-4CC8-ADCC-F1D191EEC0A2.jpg
As you can see, I left a bit of extra overlapping material at the top. This helps fill that corner. I will probably cut those a bit longer so it really fills the corner when I pull the unit to wire the USB later, but for now I’m really pleased with even this result.
I do not have a gap that bothers me along the top or bottom, but at the corners, I think this seal can be trimmed to mate up nicely with the existing surfaces.

I’ll never use all of this. If you want to, PM me your address and I’ll send you a length that should give you a couple of shots at it.

If you are in a bigger hurry than waiting a couple days for snail mail, go the Amazon route.

Much appreciated, but already purchased last night. A few more days ain't going to kill me. I just hate Amazon so much, I can literally have anything i want in a day or two...why isn't the post office that efficient? 3-5 days to mail something across the street, absurd I say.

    I think I’m 99% done!

My USB to USB C adapter arrived yesterday and I got it installed.
    836CF987-DD77-420B-848B-1B624DC92A43.jpg

This one offers more flexibility, and if you change your HU I recommend using this instead of the small 1-piece adapters.

Mine broke during the initial installation.

I am happy to report that the dash data and power usb work again, and the sound is improved when you plug in vs going wireless.

The last thing I need to get done is have a shop tune the amp. Everything sounds good, but I think I have the gains way high, and the stereo is really loud and starting to sound rough at volume 15.

Thanks for all the instructions and lessons here. I'm prob going to go this route at some point this year & will use this thread to get it flush-mounted.

I still have a lot of my music on CDs. Anyone know if the USB port can be used to connect a portable USB CD drive (USB-powered)?

could you not rip them into mp3s or wav files? That would make life easier for you yo have it all on 1 thumb drive.

you can turn the gain on the amp down if it is too loud.
Here’s a good read if you want to set the gain yourself:

Yeah...but I'm old and set in my ways too. All these new-fangled contraptions that you whipper snappers use...mp3's and whatnot. ;)
I just want to be able to throw a disc in, but those days are ending.

Just curious if you guys are using any of the OBDII/vehicle gauge features that the Maestro RR has? If you just want to keep the steering wheel buttons functional, there are cheaper options that give you this. (AXXESS ASWC-1, Maestro SW)

On the Pioneers, you can customize a dashboard. I have mine displaying camera view of the rear, trans temp, and current media.

The vehicle data is interesting, but not really vital for me.

after reading your thread i think this might be the way to go if i can't get a factory 20 or 21 unit. I like that is slammed in the dash. and thats a 10inch display right??

although im slightly confused on what all you purchased to do this install (part numbers and links if you have them) seems like you made quite a few revisions. from what i have gathered you may have used the aftermarket radio bezel, but you used the factory radio brackets and slotted them. Can the factory radio go back in with no problems? I also saw an updated usb to usbc adapter as well. and a whole bunch of other things.

The factory HU can go right back in, no mods.

here’s what I ended up using. I don’t have part numbers.

    Pioneer head unit

    Maestro RR adapter module

Maestro T02 harness (makes the Maestro and Head Unit plug and play to the truck wiring plugs) get the kit with the actual Maestro adapter, $205: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FR4CFHJ

    Maestro USB adapter cord ($19):

    Generic/Amazon USB to USB-C adapter (set of 2 for $7.99): https://www.amazon.com/JSAUX-Adapte...qid=1652647735&sprefix=usb+to+,aps,135&sr=8-5

Cheapo Chinese gasket material ($12): Amazon.

For this installation, I purchased but did not use:

    Metra dash kit

    Maestro XM radio adapter

Also- let me add that the Maestro support center can be reached by phone, and they are excellent.

I called them when I couldn’t get my dash USB socket to work.

As it turns out, the crappy USB-USB-C adapter pioneer included simply broke during installation.

The Maestro tech helped me figure this out.

Pioneer verified that the USB should have worked, but they were not friendly and made no suggestions. Hey… at least someone picked up.

    Thank you!

Just to be clear the XM radio adapter will be needed if i plan to use that? ( i only do the free trials) no paid subscription at the moment

I know the headunit model number and i should be able to figure out the RR adapter module.

When you remove the factory unit does that make the USB and AUX port in the dash useless you get that adapter?
