Is anyone else having an issue with Wireless Carplay disconnecting randomly? I have an iPhone XR that is running that latest IOS, and have updated the firmware on the 7600 and still having issues.

That is the first and only aftermarket HU I've seen that actually looks good in the dash. If I were remotely adventurous when it came to things electrical I would be tempted to get it if it displays the transmission temp...

In other words, this MFing forum might wind up costing me more money down the line... again!

Help me understand what you mean by “flipped the lcd mounting bracket’s upside down”?

The L shape metal brackets on back of screen?

I just ordered an 8600 and im trying to get my ducks in a row.

Ok it’s been a while so hopefully I remember right, but I think I flipped the bracket ‘upside down’ compared to this image in the install manual so I could have the chassis mounted all the way at the top of the space but the screen as low as possible. I tried so many configurations though it’s hard to remember. Now I’m going to have to yank it out to see so it does not drive me nuts. Thanks a lot haha

So that bracket will only mount one way due to the ear tabs it has.

Here’s what I've got so far.

    1D022D99-0FD5-4A9D-9D19-2FB7244B8761.jpg FF7ADF24-C1D0-4999-BD3B-7C68BBD1D450.jpg
Notched the bottom of the dash kit and drilled new holes in the brackets.

Sits very close the the dash kit. And should tuck under the brow of the dash.

Stuck with this route because of the overall fit/finish of it. This method still looks very factory and all dash pieces are secure.

I found trans temp. It only allows it in the top left location. Validate PIDs first then select it for top left location on the “p1” screen.

I did, but “fixed” it. I had used the pioneer app to update firmware over wireless. When I did this it actually created a second Bluetooth connection. The HU sometimes tried to connect to that vs CarPlay. Look in your iPhone Bluetooth settings and if you see your HU twice that’s likely your problem. You need to keep the one that indicated that it’s a stereo, syncs contacts etc. I’ve had not a single issue since I fixed that. It’s been flawless.

Sorry no pictures, tried styrofoam blocks styrofoam no good, too mushy.i made little wood blocks yielded better results, but because i used velcro , once again too mushy, couldn't pull it tight in like I wanted. The only way you're going to get it tight is to use double sided tape. Hell if i use 3m you will never get it off. may have to buy some from a dollar store. 1st world problems.....Lol

Auto zone or like has the best 3m tape. Its thin, made for car emblem applications.

I have been crazy busy this week, and won’t get to it this weekend, but my plan is to pull the HU back out try 3 things:

iDatalink has great phone tech support. They gave me a couple things to look at for the USB port. I’m going to take a stab at that.

I plan to order or buy some small weather stripping and use that fill the narrow gaps around the screen to give a more built-in appearance. I’ll also widen my slotted mounting holes on the bracket so I can get the display about 1/16” deeper.

Lastly, I have my cut-up Metra dash parts, which include the lower part of the trim; the part that the top of the climate control panel clips to. I will figure out a way to mount that below the head unit so that the climate panel will positively clip into place.

    I’ll post pictures.

Thank you all for adding your thoughts and ideas!

Try the bottom of the metra kit with the hvac panel before going through all the trouble to cut/fit. Mine does not hold the hvac panel as well as I had hoped. Better than nothing though.

I was a little disappointed with only seeing the trans temp as a small gauge. I wanted it as the center one so it would show on the Home Screen. With a little more time messing with settings I found the way.
Go to P2 screen and set trans temp as main gauge there! EASY!

I’ll validate the PIDs again and give this a try.
Seems I already did that though… any tips on making sure I am completing that step properly?

Make sure main obd is plugged in before turning on truck.

    Diving deeper:
On the obd wiring harness the, end has 2 little connections. One is a white connector with single wire which connects to a like connector that was empty on the aftermarket harness. The black connector (2 wires) goes to a like/black connector which had to be disconnected below the 28pin connector in the aftermarket harness.

Those two connections are key to having available PIDs work.

Once vehicle is running, validate PIDs and then look for trans temp.

Been running the 8600 for a little while now, wondering if anyone else has had issue with the initial clock set up and tire pressure monitor. I have all other functions, so from what I’ve searched up the clock should set automatically and the obd reads all other gauges. Hoping someone might have figured this out.

I have seen no issues with clock or TPMS.
Both have read accurately for me.

Exactly what issues are you having with the clock and the pressures?

Can’t get the clock to sync, I think it’s supposed to be automatic with the gps. Then the tpms never shows readings.

I never had to set anything for the clock, and I factory reset mine 3 times figuring out the sound config.

I guess you could TRY hitting the TPMS button at your right knee if you haven’t already…?

The clock and date(on home screen) are off on the 8600 in my tundra as well. It is correct on the 7600 in 4runner. One major difference, the gps antenna. Tundra is hooked up to the factory gps antenna, 4runner has the supplied pioneer gps antenna.
