Newb installation thread- Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX into a 2018 SR5 Entune Non-JBL

I finally got it to work. I had to go into the radio settings and select firmware updates and then select thru caravassist in that menu. The caravassist shortcut button on the main screen didn't work.

 

That's basically the instructions if you click on How to download firmware updates in the app

I may have been slightly inebriated so I didn't understand it.....

 

He posted that his front sway bar links were bent due to a 4 inch lift that a shop installed. After I asked him to post pics of the lift, I saw the issue. They installed a spacer lift on top of Bilstein 5100's.

No. It did it once on the way to work and them when I left work it did it 3 times within 3 or 4 miles

 

I'll never buy Pioneer again.

 

I'm gonna try emailing them but you know how that goes. I would get that Alpine Halo 9 but I have to get gutters installed and build the 2nd shed.

Yep. I just finished the 1st shed lol. Although I do have a birthday next week lol.

 

Where did you guys mount the pioneer microphone? I may have missed it in the thread, but it seems like we have to use the pioneer supplied mic for things to properly work.

Also, where do you connect the maestro usb adapter? I didn't see anything in the maestro instructions for that connection.

 

There's a USB cable for connecting it to a PC for programming and firmware updates. I have my mic installed in one of the switch blanks in front of the shifter.

 

I realize I messed that question up. Adapter UTO3 is what I'm asking about. I think it will live in between the usb port on the dash and hook directly to the head unit. (Will need the usb-A to usb-C adapter as well) I could be wrong here, but I saw it was an available option when flashing the maestro, so I ordered it.

My mic got stuck right on top of the steering column. I thought it would annoy me but it's been there for a month or 2 and I don't even notice it. As for the UTO3, you are correct... It goes between the HU and the factory wiring harness, it doesn't touch the Maestro. You'll need a USB C adapter. My Pioneer came with a LOOONG USB cable that I didn't use. Just the little 6" Amazon adapter from the HU to the UTO3 to the factory harness.

 

Hello all. New to the forum. I have 2016 Tundra Platinum. I just ordered the pioneer 8600 with everything needed for install. Maybe I should have read this thread til the end before buying? lol! Is everyone still enjoying it? My stuff should arrive tomorrow.

Any recommendations for a dash cam? Someone said Fitcamx but it’s listed as 2017-2021 so don’t think that would fit a 2016 right?

 

Thinkware dash cames are some of the highest rated.

I just got done with my install. I ran into two problems.

1) The ground on the head unit was insufficient. I and weird noise coming through all the speakers. I cut open the harness and routed ground directly to the chassis.

2) Spotify will skip when using wireless Android Auto on a Samsung S23. I haven't found a solution yet. I've updated firmware with no luck. This one is really annoying.

Is there anyway to tie in the stock Mic? No adapter for it ? It would be cool to just use the stock one since it’s already in place

 

No. There are no adapters either. A few have put an aftermarket one in that spot though.
