Wow, that’s awesome! I didn’t even know Eaton made selectable front and rear lockers for our Tundras. Keep us updated and how they perform when you take it off-road.

I do not know about that. A 9.5" ring is pretty stout, especially being it's no longer a factory carrier and likely do gears at the same time. The CVs, may be weak, but the part number for L&R are the same so if you really off-road it pays to carry a spare front and rear axle.

TMC is out of touch with their truck buyers, plastic bumpers (the departure angle is for soccer parking lots at best), no storage under or behind the rear seats, removal of A-Pillar handles, junk bearing in the front diff axle output (driver's side), no locker available on even top trim. I am in North PHX too, I wish TMC would invite their demographic out for drives at the proving grounds in Wittmann.

Depending on the terrain you drive, the ARB may be more to your liking than the Harrop. The ARB locks without any rotation forward or reverse needed to engage and if you roll back it doesn't disengage then re-engage the way the Harrop will, just the nature of the locking mechanisms.

When I was talking to ken/zuk when regearing, he recommend not to do front locker unless I'm going serious rock crawling, and so far I agree, the powertrax has been great so far in pretty much everything, specially when taking off during a turn, which a locker won't help much unless engaged.

Yeah, locked gears for maneuvering is no bueno. Low speed, one direction is where they shine. Not to say they can’t be used for hard launches, but for a behemoth truck like a Tundra…not a good idea. When I engaged my lockers on the street, it wasn’t very fun….except when I was mashing the pedal in a straight line :D.

The atrac will try to engage by pumping the brakes, you should turn off vsc (hold it for 3sec when stationary) before engaging the lockers to get the full benefit.

But it won't cause any issues if you are worried about the traction control system.

When regearing, adding lockers/lsd was additionally $300 for me.

ATRAC is a software-based traction system that applies braking to either wheel independently based on which wheel is slipping. ATRAC is initiated by ABS wheel sensor signals from both sides. If one ABS sensor sees one wheel spinning faster than the other, ATRAC will apply braking to the wheel spinning faster. Now, if you have lockers activated, both wheels will be locked to rotate together (not independently) so ATRAC will not initiate because the ABS sensors will send equal speed signals to the ECM…thus the ECM logically won’t know it’s slipping on one side. However, because lockers are mechanical, they will provide equal traction and won’t be affected by any other system other than Traction Control. Traction Control takes speed signal (the speed of the car moving) and the ABS signal (speed tires are rotating) and determines throttle position (cuts throttle). It’s seeing the car going 0mph, but both wheels spinning at 15mph…it thinks your losing control or stuck. Simply put, no ATRAC will not have any issues with lockers, but, you do need Traction Control turned off when lockers are active.

$5000 for parts if you do it yourself. About $7000 installed and wired by a shop.

Read through the thread from the beginning. Lockers part number are in the first post, and buttons part numbers are a few further down.
