New to me 2001 4x4 5spd V6

Removed the old bumper hitch and installed the new junk yard Reese hitch I picked up today

 

I couldn't resist to get the two doors to replace the ones mine have rust on the bottom

 

I mean, at this point, what's the price to tow this whole truck home?
I didn't see it but this is an automatic, correct?

Might wanna grab the front diff & cv's, maybe front spindles. Or was it you that used 4runner spindles?

 

@Bmktw2 I love how that truck literally has the same paint defect as yours! Crazy how similarly all of ours failed.

 

Think might be time to just grab some extra parts for later down the road. But that's just me.....

I put the Tuntra to work the last two days driving it about 600miles with a trailer. I drove up to north Florida to sign the paperwork for the sale of my land and business yesterday then loaded the Tuntra and a trailer with all my stuff and drove back to central FL to my dad's house. The Tuntra was squatted down and loaded with weight in the trailer but did just fine. I had a vibration coming from the shifter lever, I think it's the original carrier bearing so I'll be looking to replace that asap.

 

I dunno that it's the carrier bearing, but if you do end up replacing, go Spicer. Make sure you get the right unit for your truck. Some have had issues. And don't forget to mark and/or clock the position of the shafts

 

Do you know which 5speed that is r150f?

 

I have no idea... Curious to know myself

 

Look for a tag or casting.

So I decided to order a new driveshaft because of the condition mine is in with the rust, the questionable carrier bearing and the vibration I was getting in the shifter. I know it was a lot $ but now that I've sold my house, I plan to pull a camper and travel the road as a journeyman and want the piece of mind having the new part.

 

When you hit the road, don't forget Chainsaw, but if you do I'll come get him.

Hopefully the jiggle in the handle isn't due to the lever housing cracking off the ear. It's happened to many members here with pre-2003 models. @Jack McCarthy has a good writeup on how to repair on TundraSolutions. @shifty` OP has a manual, not an automatic with a column shifter.

Somehow I knew that rusty driveshaft was going to present issues though. Probably the carrier bearing as expected.
