New or Used? gun buying

Here's my used acquisition for the week:

 

If you're doubtful about the integrity of the Feds and concerned about the future of gun control, there's some argument to be made for buying from private sellers and avoiding a paper trail. This could lead to unintentional purchase of a stolen weapon.
Buying new has many upsides. Not least is knowing the full history of the gun.

I figured I would post here instead of starting another thread. I'm going to be purchasing a Walther PPS M2 and I have been looking on GunBroker. Has anyone purchased, or entered in a bidding war for a purchase.
It seems to me that you would wait to the last second to put your bid on and hope your the winner. If anyone could give me some insight on that and GunBroker as well, that would be fantastic!. Thanks

 

I just recently signed up on there and I'm still learning the ropes. I almost placed a bid but after messaging the seller, he seemed so unmotivated and charged a good bit extra for PayPal. I decided not to buy from him and went elsewhere.

Ive signed up for GunBroker.com i bidded for a sig sauer 1911 scorpion carry in .45acp started at 850 went all way up to 1200 i stopped at 950

 

I have purchase multiple items from Gunbroker, always had a good experience.

Make sure you don't "over pay" for something. Do your research to make sure your not getting ripped off.

Yeah no doubt, but right now it's at $300 min bid. Gun runs around $450-500.

Thanks Ron, that's some great info there. Will definitely keep that in mind. Why I got your attention, and to all gun guy's. What is everyone's thought on phosphorus sites vs night sites . I know the trijicon sights last around 10 years and phosphorus last lifetime, but need to be activated. Just wondering, there's a $50-60 difference in price . Regular package, 2 mags 6+1 and 7+1 , and limited edition that comes with 3 mags, extra 8+1 mag and the phosphorus sites. Just wanted to know if it is worth the extra money. Thanks everyone

 

I just put some new Meprolight nights on my CZ. It was $80 for the sights and $20 to install. For me if you can get the same gun with nights sights and an extra mag for $50-60 I would go for it. The extra mags I bought for my Walther were $30 a pop if I remember correctly and that's been roughly 15 years ago, I'm sure they haven't gotten any cheaper.

I have, but some of the gun dealers I talked to, also said the same thing. Just wanted some more opinions from our gun experts on here. This is what makes this forum the BEST! A troft of knowledge, that necessarily doesn't have to be about our Tundras.

 

Man, I got confused for a minute. I thought you were saying the Sig 1911 in Scorpion was running $450-500.

Entered my first bidding war on GunBroker and won!!! . To be honest, I didn't think it was gonna end well. Not only did it, I won on 1 bid @ $370. Stoked fo sho. Will post pictures when I get it. Salute

 

Buy a stainless 357 magnum with a 6" barrel.

 

One i used for CHL class was a rental...FNH FN 509 9mm striker fire no safety... i want a manual safety felt good in hand shot tight trigger pull was crisp i wanted to shot a 45 but the rental they had was not working well they said

 

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, there's a new addition to the family. It's name is Walther PPS M2 in 9mm.
I will be @ the range to test it out and to shoot an array of fully automatic weapons.

 

Very nice Ron, looks like you got the one with night sights? Let me know what you think of it a buddy at work has one for sale and I was considering it.
