Free shipping, no sales tax, I get $10 FFL transfers but most places charge about $25.

    Do it! ;)

Only used ones I've bought have been off friends; which I know take care of 'em. Never have bought used from any other private seller. Sorry - no help over here.

I own 18 handguns, 85% were bought brand new, 10% like brand new and 5% used. I've only had issues with 1 like brand new firearm. Truth be told, I haven't shot a lot of my new ones so I can't say I won't have an issue with any of them. Just not expecting too.

For me, I like all calibers ... but the 45acp holds a special place in my heart (Sig P220 West German was my very first purchase).

Interestingly enough I just bought a used Taurus M66 .357 to use as a truck gun. I also am picking up a used CZ P-09 that I found for $375. (great deal). Dude says he's barely shot a 50 round box of ammo through it.

I also have a new holster and dock to mount in the truck waiting for me at home when I return tonight from this nightmare area known as Southern California. ;)

2 of my Glocks I bought used. No problems with any of these two. They're bullet proof. :rimshot:

You got a deal Sean no question. Judging from the pics that one leather holster looks like a Desantos. Those are ~$60 easy, I gotta :boink:

I don't have a lot of guns yet but I'll tell you I do like my S&W 45 ACP M&P. At first it had some feeding issues and the slide would close at the end of a magazine. So unless you were counting your rounds you wouldn't know you shot the last one. The feeding issues may have been due to some cheaper ammunition I had bought. A couple of the casings upon inspection had cracked after firing. All issues seem to go away after I fired about 500 rounds through it. Now quite a few thousand rounds later it fires like a Rolex.

One cool thing I have found when looking at used guns is that a lot of them have been reworked. Lighter trigger pulls and stuff I don't even know about. So buying used if you know what you're looking at, it can save you money if you're looking for a custom piece. Somebody already did the work for you.

Exactly what i was looking for in a review!

Yeah, I have a Jennings 9mm (I'm aware of the craptastic job they did on that gun) but a stronger clip spring and better ammo, it shoots fine, but a little heavy for my daily carry. So I'm a major proponent of good ammo vs crappy

    Thanks Sean!

Oh and another thing about the M&P I have. When it was new and I probably had too much lube. When you were finished firing that magazine, or with the slide lock open, when you put in a new mag, if you smack it hard enough, the slide would close for you. Doesn't seem to do that anymore though. It may have to do with too much lube on the slide lock tab.

    Lube
Edit: just tried it right now and it still does it. But there's got to be rounds in the magazine.

In regards to firearms, a very knowledgeable and experienced friend of mine always says firearms are more reliable once broken in.

I have always bought new, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy used from a reputable gun shop or friend if they are the only owner, or after having an armorer inspect it.

I have found it's rarely worth the cost savings of a used gun over a new one... you really have no idea how the previous owner took care of it. With that said... go buy lots. There tons of fun! :)

I buy both. I can't pass up a smokin deal no matter the status.

That being said, I'm an armorer and not afraid to tinker with my guns. A lot of parts that wear can be changed out easily and cheaply.

    I bought these used:

Before I tore them down, stripped them, degreased them, and coated them:

I have since sold the red one (used, that poor bastard who bought it! ;)), and changed the grips on the black chrome one. These grips are by Marschal Grips and were worth the price and the 6 month wait.

I'm not allowed anymore. The wife no more guns.

So I bought a tundra to spend money on.

I bet she wishes I was still buying gun parts.

That's the main double stack 45 I want. I'm a bit partial to the caliber, the only other one I have that isn't a 45 is my Glock 22. But I'll never get rid of it because it was my 21st birthday gift from my dad.

First pistol I'd definitely go new Adam. I know you're a vet and if you've got a dod ID then Glock has some great pricing for you.

But I'd go to a range and shoot a bunch before you buy. When I started shooting pistols, I fell in love with the original black plastic fantastic's but my wife preferred the S&W M&P line. So that's what she has.

Agree with Permafrost. Go shoot a bunch and see what feels best to you. So many really great pistols out there it's crazy.

Some I've had good luck with if you're after a carry pistol:

Glock 19 - not my favorite for a variety of reasons but very reliable and I have grown to love mine
Ruger LC9S - very concealable and an absolutely amazing trigger
Ruger LCR - ridiculously light and concealable, great double action trigger
HK P30SK - Don't pick this up if you aren't ready to buy it, that's how I feel about this pistol!
M&P 2.0 - Amazing pistol but a little big for CC, this will probably be my next purchase. LOVE the stippling!
HK VP9 - again a full size pistol that you might be able to carry, but killer ergonomics

Don't forget about the old and antiquated revolvers too. ;) Love my S&W 686+ in .357!

Make sure you fire a few rounds with this gun before you buy......Just because it feels good doesn't mean you will like it or be comfortable with it when you shoot it. Take it for a test drive before you buy  If for some reason it doesn't feel right when you fire it try to downsize to a .40 cal just about the same punch but more control less kick. Remember BRASS

There is noting wrong with buying used as long as you are buying a reputable firearm and know enough not to overpay. I have bought a ton of used guns and my share of new ones. I do my research first and make sure I know what I'm getting. It takes a lot to mess up a gun. 90% of people will never shoot even half of the rounds it would take to wear out a gun. If you need any help with buying or want to ask any questions about guns or concealed carry send me a PM. The more educated and responsible gun owners we have the better off we will be.

I have no problem buying new or used but usually it's from a friend or under the agreement I get to fully inspect the gun and shoot it prior to purchase. Picked this up used probably my favorite gun.image.jpg
