Welcome from Vegas. How you liking the X4s? I’m thinking of getting the same one. I just sold my Bakflip MX4.

have been a huge fan so far! Exactly what I wanted and why I wanted it. 95%+ access to the bed with complete visibility out the back when needed. I like how it bolted in instead of clamped on too. Very easy install.

Thanks for sharing. I'm also new to the Tundra and MGM club (also a first-time truck owner, so lots to learn), so I'm excited to see some of your build / mod ideas.

I'm about to get a spray-in bed liner, and then I planned to add a Tonneau cover. I like the idea of the Revolver X4S for the same reasons you mentioned, so I thought about picking that up. When ordering, there are two versions and price points: with and without a deck rail system. --

EDIT: The previous owner had a lay-in bed liner and what looks like the OEM rail system and a soft tri-fold cover that clamped to the rails. I'm planning to replace the bed liner with a spray-in version, and I would like to use the Revolver X4S. Any sense of what the pros / cons are of the "with deck rail system" versus "without"?

Thanks for sharing your mods. I installed the Bak Revolver X4s today; went well and looks great.

I would like to add the Bed Xtender Max, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say "no drill bracket, quick release bracket, and spacers to fit with the cover." -- Does the Bed Xtender Max need to be modified somehow to fit under the Revolver X4s? -- Is there some way to install the Bed Xtender without drilling into the bed? (I was watching an install video on YouTube, and they had to drill into the bed. If that can be avoided, I'd prefer not to drill. Is there a YT video or other resource you could point me to that shows the way you installed?)

Thanks again for sharing; I appreciate seeing your ideas and the helpful photos.

The no drill bracket was a hugely nice thing to have when installing. Whether or not you have the X4s, I would recommend.

Found all of the parts on Amazon at one point but got them all from tonneaucovered.com whenever I ordered the extender itself.
TBH I haven't gotten a ton of use out of the extender, and it still rubs a little on the X4s latching piece. when I do use it.

If I could do it again, I'd skip the quick release part as it doesn't always stay locked. I don't think the regular release bracket would have been all that bad.
I read it was good to get the quick release when using a tonneau cover. and the bolts were coming loose from vibration so I put red locktite on them.

I ordered the Amp Research Bed Extender months ago, and it finally arrived this week. I ordered the no-drill brackets, but I wound up drilling because the torque screws holding the hook where the no-drill brackets would mount are covered by the spray bed liner, so I couldn't get the screws off.

After installing the drilled mounts and getting the extender set up, I went to flip it into the bed and realized the X4S metal latching tabs (as shown in your photo) fully block the extender from flipping into the bed. :(

I quit in frustration (and had to leave for a meeting anyway), so I haven't tried any troubleshooting yet, but I think the X4S essentially prevents you from flipping the extender into the bed.

You mentioned the extender scraping on those X4S latching brackets, but I wonder if your quick-release addition moved the extender arms a little more to the center of the truck, allowing the extender to flip back, even scraping slightly as it does. I'm wondering if I could try adding the quick-release into the drilled brackets, if that's possible.

How bad is the scraping? Do you feel like it's viable, since flipping it back and forth isn't a common occurrence? Are there any other tips or thoughts about how to make the Amp Research Bed Extender work with the X4S?

    Thanks for sharing your experiences!

In looking more closely at your post and the photo of the bracket and quick-release handle, it seems like I'm more intrigued about what appear to be some spacers that are extending the mounting brackets out from the truck bed. From this photo, it looks like you inserted a series of buffers / spacers before the actual bracket, and I wonder if that's allowing your bed extender to flip up without hitting (or just scraping) the latching brackets for the Revolver X4S.

I apologize for following up on my own post, but could you share what the apparent spacers are in the photo you shared with the mount and quick-release handle?

Now I feel like I'm talking to myself, but I wanted to update anyone following the thread. -- The issue with installing the bed extender with a tonneau cover like the Revolver X4S is that the rails on the cover prevent the bed extender from folding into the bed. -- @BhamDadTundra showed his installation with a quick-release hardware, but I wasn't sure where he got the spacers that appeared in the photo. -- I've since found the spacers on the Amp Research site and at 4WheelParts. (AMP Part No.: AMP74609-01A) They cost $50 (pretty steep for a set of spacers), so I just ordered them and will update when I get them installed.
