Anyone have any idea as to what threshold an insurance company is to reach before totalling a vehicle. The initial estimate was $16k, but that's just an insurance guy looking at it, not a body shop quote after pulling it apart, which I was assured would be more... Just looking for someone with more knowledge about this process than I have. Thanks for any info!

As some predicted, they did in fact total loss it. The "fix it" cost was just shy of double the initial cost estimated by Insurance Co. Got my settlement and am back in the market... Hooray for car shopping haha! Thinking about a '19 Crew SR5 TRD Quicksand... We shall see before too long - appreciate all the feedback!

New addition... I got sucked in to the Quicksand... The new (to me) 2018 Limited with only 4k on the odom and a certified warranty checked my boxes. Happy truckin' again!

I have seen very few (tundras) in Quicksand in Ohio. The ones I tried dealing on here were priced too high. I flew over to Chicago to pick it up and drove it home the other night. As far as my wrecked tundra goes, yes the frame was bent and estimate from collision place was 31.5k to fix... So they totalled it and here I am with a new Tundra. Now I just need to unload my tow mirrors (2 mos old with no damage), to buy the ones with the blind spot monitoring.... Always something ..!

That’s a real bummer man. I suggest giving your truck (half) a new reincarnated life. Simply give me your short box to swap onto my truck please Haha. Congrats on the quicksand. My fav color!

Everything inside that truck from the pedals in the passenger compartment back to the hitch was in "like" brand new condition, which made it suck to have totalled (w/only 38k on it). In other words, you would've liked the bed, haha! But the quicksand was my desired color to start, but when I bought in '16 I didn't want/need to spend the money on the color alone... Wasn't going to let it go this time though! I appreciate the comment
