Falling a little behind with my 100 miles per week average.

Almost at week 21 and just reaching the 1,700 mile mark.

Oh well…… once winter is over I’ll come out of hibernation…… then again maybe I just need to lower the mile average per week number!

Oh forgot to mention I “SOLD” my stock Michelin tires.

Had them on Craigslist so I got like 2-3 responses a day mostly from Crazies/Wackos and just outright Weirdo’s. Unbelievable the amount of con artists out there. Sure there was numerous legit folks too, but they all made Low Ball offers. Was asking $800 and the favorite offer always seemed to be $600.

Anyway, made the deal for $750…… so my Goodyear Wrangler Dura Trac tires ended up costing me right around $315.00. So I’m very happy with the deal and I really like the “LOOK” of the new more aggressive tires!

Beautiful mods! Are 275/65's the largest tire to run on stock height without any rubbing or trimming?

    That’s stock size. 275/70r18 don’t rub.

Thanks. So far most of the mods have been a lot of fun to do myself.

I went with stock size tires, the big box store will only install the same stock size. I just wanted a more aggressive looking tire. Kinda crazy to do just for looks……especially since the stock tires are probably better overall tires.

I agree as I love doing my own work on my vehicles as, believe it or not, I find it enjoyable and very relaxing. After selling your stock tires and only paying $300 USD more for a better aggressive look is completely worth it in my opinion.

I plan on doing many mods very soon as I ordered the parts to my daughter's home in WA state. I reside in Vancouver, BC, Canada but never purchase parts here as the prices are astronomical compared to the US. On top of the high prices, we also pay 13% in taxes.

I asked about the tire size as I just picked up my 2021 TRD Sport Premium which has 20". I just purchased a set of used 2020 TRD Pro BBS 18" in excellent condition and I don't want to encounter any rubbing and or, have to alter anything for proper fitment. I wanted to go with SCS Ray 10's in gunmetal but it appears that it could be quite sometime before they are available.

I searched max tire sizes pertaining to years and models but it states that trimming may be necessary. It appears that some people are running 285/70 with no rubbing issues on a non Pro/Off Road model. I'm wanting to run the max tire size on stock height without encountering any issues.

How do you find the TRD Pro dual exhaust? Did you notice the low end torque loss everyone talks about and the dyno shows? I didn't order it yet as I wanted to drive the truck for a while before I make a decision on it.

Your Tundra looks awesome and reviewing your progress has me very excited. Keep up the great work!

Thanks again. My truck is mostly about the look I wanted. Since I only average less than 100 miles per week and never take it off roading I haven’t really noticed any difference with the dual exhaust except the sound volume! Sounds way better. More of a rumble but not overbearing. I definitely didn’t want NOISE and it being annoyingly loud.

That's great to hear as I'm most likely going to go ahead with it as I too like the more aggressive sound but not too overbearing.

Time to search tires choices. I've been a car guy my entire life and truck tires are new to me. I was looking at either Nitto Grappler's or KO2's. Mainly for an aggressive look but treadwear longevity would be a plus! Like you, my truck is for mainly on road use and possibly a rare off road venture.

I wanted the KO2s but they weren’t any available at the time, think it was like a 3 month wait, so I read about others here with the wrangler Dura Trac and they mostly gave them a thumbs up.

Since my truck was brand new, drove from the dealership into my driveway, and installed the dual exhaust. Think I had 20 miles so it was super easy to remove the stock exhaust and install the new setup.

The stock exhaust is t still on Craigslist, had several lowball offers, but all were way too low. Asking $500 or best offer and most offers have been like $200. So NO DEAL.

I did have a serious offer but he had the smaller Tundra motor and I guess it has a different exhaust. I posted the part numbers so it shouldn’t be complicated.

Here’s what I posted: Both Parts: $500 or best offer

Toyota Part Number: 17420-0S060 -Exhaust Muffler - MSRP: $495

    Toyota Part Number: 17430-0S011 - Exhaust Pipe & Tip - MSRP: $325

Hopefully it will sell eventually and can offset the cost of the dual setup.

Look into the Falken Wildpeaks, they wear great and have that aggressive look most folks like.

    SOLD

Sold the Chrome Surround and the Chrome Hood Bulge today. $50.00 for the pair. Think I paid something like $250 for the Color Matched Surround and $200 for the Color Matched Hood Bulge.

So some quick math off the top of my head…… sold the ol pro grille insert for $150 and the last two pieces today for $50 for a total of $200 from the $450 I spend to swap the grille over to color match I guess it cost me right around $250

I’m very happy with that number. It was definitely worth the resulting look. Very happy with how it came out.

Still on the fence with the rear sway bar. Oh well……no hurry and the warmer weather is right around the corner, hopefully that is, so it will be easier to work on the next project.

5K Service scheduled for next week. They also added the “Recall” fix.

I was quoted 4.5 - 5 hours for the fix.

Hope they have all the required parts on-hand. Read somewhere that some parts are still on back order.

Guess I’ll find out next week. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

    So far No Issues whatsoever

5K/6 Month Service today and all good. No issues found and dcm update recall done!

The Steering Rack recall apparently did Not effect my vehicle. It was inspected and I was told it is good to go!

    Mileage for first service: 1,917

    Week 25 since purchased.

So I’m walking down the driveway to get the mail and as I’m walking back I see a little Red Squirrel coming from the front area of my house carrying a big huge dried up hydrangea flower. The flower head was bigger than the darn squirrel.

So he gets like half way across the driveway…… maybe like 5-6 feet from my truck and he stops and looks me right in the eye. I yelled out “You better NOT you little rascal you”. And I swear he looked at me and winked……then ran right under the front of my truck and jumped up into the engine bay.

So I opened the cabin filter compartment and sure enough it was full of leaves/dried up hydrangea flowers which seem to be this little fellows favorite. So out with all the crap and got the shop vac again to clean it all out.

Everything I tried had FAILED. So as a last resort I got out a trap and set it under the engine. Sure enough just an hour later there he was. Put the trap in the bed and drove about 8 miles away and released the little trouble maker.

No issues since and it’s been over 2 weeks now. So I put in a brand new cabin filter. But this time I cut a piece of screen to put on top. I know it won’t stop it from happening again if another critter figures out how to get in there, but it should keep the filter from being destroyed.

So it looks like I’ll check it weekly and it another critter shows up I’ll have to relocate another one.

Well it’s somewhere around week 30 and just went over the 2,000 mile mark.

Not sure what the annual mileage will be but Wow it definitely won’t be much. Just haven’t had anywhere I needed to go!

You could come to Pa. And swap my grille insert. (Hopefully it ships this week) and dip my bumper ends too.

Oh what fun it is! Great fun mod to do. You will really enjoy the end results. Plus the weather just keeps getting better and better. Sounds like perfect timing.

I like keeping things organized as I go along.

Looking forward to seeing the pics! Take your time disassembling the surround. All those tabs/clips/fasteners are very fragile.

In a few wks the truck will be One Year Old.

Currently has around 3,300 miles……so I’m shooting for THIRTY-FIVE HUNDRED MILES
Going for it’s first Oil Change, 2nd service soon. They will probably start laughing when they see the mileage.

Hey what the heck……I don’t have to go anywhere.
