Omg check your cabin air filter

Just wanted to inspect cause I'm going to a trip. It was totally destroyed. Replaced with a Toyota one....check yours..2019 tundra

Critters got to mine a couple of years ago. I couldn't get it out without dropping twigs and leaves into the fan. I had to pull the fan out to get it clean and clear.

 

I replace mine every engine air filter change

 

I'm on my third one already, 2019. Replace every year, it really needs it.

 

I have been using the K&N cabin filter in my Tundra and 17 Honda CRV. I wash them every six months or when the cabin starts to smell stale with the a/c on. Well worth the initial investment IMO. A few years ago, my sister in law's Jetta had poor a/c. I thought it was maybe the compressor or lack of charge, it was just the cabin filter not being changed for almost 10 years.

 

I replaced mine last week and it was Epic too!
The truck smells different now?
But in a good way!

 

Change mine twice a year

 

IM with mcm0455, initial investment is costly but well worth it in the long run I clean mine often I have an 07 CM and threw the stock paper way back.

 

I have a 2018 Tundra and decided to change my cabin filter as well. It was destroyed and there were obvious signs of mice coming in through the air intake. After a $500 quote by the dealer and some searching online, I made a screen to cover the air intake where the little b.........s were getting in. No more problems.

 

Mice are really freaky crafty and really can get in anywhere they can fit their pointy little heads.
Kill them all!!!!!!

 

I change my cabin filter once a year along with the engine air filter. The cabin filter usually has a fair amount of pollen and dirt. They both could last longer, but if I’m taking the time to bust ‘em open something is getting replaced.

What if you have no cabin air filter?

 

Yes, self-tapping screws but I pre-drilled the holes. Not sure what sizzle lean screen is. I just used some galvanized wire mesh from Home Depot. The hardest part was removing the plastic cover to get access to the intake opening.

 

Yeah because I was looking at it and wondering where that vent was. Then saw ya have to take off that plastic channel... Sizzle lean screen is just a generic term for any screen. Think it came from cheech and chong movie.

 

You would think someone would make an insert that covered this opening with wire mesh. I'd buy it for sure.

I fashioned the same thing but I'm still getting mice. I'm thinking there is another entry point on the driver's side.

 

Are you guys getting mice out in the sticks or do you park in a tight space that has walls and corners near your truck where mice would run at night?

semi related question: does the air flow for the cabin air filter point towards the ground or up to the sky?
