You missed the entire point of the thread you apparently did not read before posting. It is not prohibited by Toyota, in fact the owners book says dealer will turn off if requested.

    I am curious though.

If a person was to buy a brand new truck still on the lot and said no deal unless the chimes are muted. Would the dealer pass up the sale or would they have the chimes muted to keep the sale?

Yes, it's really that big of a hassle. I grew up without seatbelts and have been driving for decades without. It's my choice and I don't need the government to act like an over-protective mommy. I also don't wear a helmet and padding when riding a bicycle, or a life jacket while fishing. And, believe it or not, I also occasionally smoke, drink, and cuss.

Go to a dealer that will turn it off. If they dont want your money then find someone who does. Fairly easy.

I got the metal cover on Amazon. I still havent put it on yet but I will one day.

Some speed limiters are set so you don't exceed the limits of the tire, make sure to check the rating before doing any extended high speed runs.

Good to know. It would shut down at 110 and I actually haven’t had it up over that after I disabled it. I guess it’s just nice to know that I can.

You citified folks don't get what it's like to drive a couple miles on a private dirt road to get your mail from the box at the highway, having to get out and open and close a couple gates on the way out and back, and be told by some well-meaning but misguided nanny that you have to listen to the damned chime for ten minutes on your own driveway.

Get the techstream and a dongle, turn the the dang thing off. That's what I did. The only reason I bought the techstream.

+1, same for getting out and opening gates on hunting ranch. No need for seat belts on ranch roads. I fasten the seat belt behind me. If it were not for the stupid warning I would not have to do that. Half the time I leave the ranch I forget to unlatch it. It creates more of a safety issue then it resolves.

In what world would you expect a company to disable a life saving alert? Do you have any idea the ramifications and liability placed on a dealership for disabling this? What if you want your blind spot indicators deactivated, that make sense for a dealer to do? You want to stop the seatbelt chime, buy a cheap a+*s Amazon seat belt silencer. Come on man..

Maybe because the seatbelt chime is listed as something the dealer can disable for you?

Perusing this thread, it seems some can't conceive of situations where it just doesn't make sense to have the seatbelt on every single time the vehicle moves. But those situations do exist.

I used techstream to disable the seatbelt chime as well as program new keys and disable the seat and steering wheel moving on entry and exit on the Platinum which I believe you can actually do on 20+ via the new infotainment system. Also obviously a hand tool to own when needing to diagnose faults just be sure to buy from a reputable seller. All of the versions available are bootleg but some are better than others.

With all the posts about upgrading sound systems, I am surprised most can even hear the seat belt chime. If so, what was the point of the upgrade?

I did that on my 2021 Sequoia but it still chimes. I even confirmed using Carista that the two settings are off. Still chimes. I guess Sequoias have some quirk. Sucks.

    seatbelt warning buzzer.jpg

It's worse than that. The vehicle doesn't even need to move. I have kids and a trailer and I live in snow country. Literally more than half the time when I turn the engine on I won't start driving until I get out of the car and go back in at least once. Calling it a "safety must" is just ignorant. It's conterproductive in terms of safety. Annoying drivers of big trucks is not a safe thing to do :)

Did you really think they would disable your seatbelt chime?!?:rofl:

If you want that kind of service you need to find a mechanic who isn't worried about ramifications from Toyota or lawyers.

And finally.... there is a really simple and low cost solution to that...do you know where to find an additional buckle?

You can turn off the bsm (and rcta and lda) in the trucks settings yourself. I’m sure a dealer would gladly charge you an hour labor to do it.

I get what you're saying, but the coffee burn thing really wasn't a frivolous lawsuit. There's lots of videos that go in-depth to just how much spin clown burger was able to put on it, but I like this guy's the most.

Here I was thinking that farmer types were super-duper extra awesome hard-working Marlborough men who quake at nothing. Turns out that they're so delicate that putting a seatbelt on is too taxing for the precious. Get the CM so the back seat can act as a fainting couch for you. lol. :boink:

So, you've never been on a gated ranch I take it.

OP, you can spend 20.00 and do it with Carrista.

I think all the ones that say just wear your seat belt need to trade their Tundras in for Prius since they never go anywhere a seat belt is not needed.
