welp, you could just buy a truck from one of the big 3 automakers and wait for the chime to break like everything else does on those trucks :crapstorm:

Sure, I can see your points. But then you're asking Toyota to include a feature that a very small portion of the population will use.

I also used Carista for some of the annoying settings I didn’t like. I would highly recommend it as it’s easy and can go between most vehicles.

My wife and I move our vehicles (she has a 2017 Sequoia, I have a 2018 Tundra) around our little farm quite a bit for various reasons (hitching up and moving the stock trailer, off loading feed, etc.). These activities involve climbing in and out several times as well as shutting off/starting up. It is ridiculous to have to put the danged seat belt on every time. We both had our nanny chimes shut off by the dealer. It still will beep five times but doesn't escalate into frenzy mode.

seat belts save lives, and that's coming from a PI attorney. Even on your 2 mile driveway. Most accidents happen in scenarios like that as opposed to your movie scene high speed impact.

smart call by the dealer, if something happened (even in your 2 mile driveway) they don’t want any legal/financial liability.

My dealer wouldn't turn off the buzzer either. I offered to sign a release of liability but they refused. It really pissed me off. Why list it as a customization in the manual then?

Both buzzers are off now...thanks Techstream.

I just found out where the little chiming speaker was at in the dash and took it out. No more noise.

I take mine off when going up my long driveway also.

Coincidentally, I was reading through my manual this afternoon (new-to-me 2018 truck, after 19 years and 250,000+ miles on my 2000, so a lot of new technology for me to get up to speed on) and it actually says, in black and white print, that you can ask the dealer to turn off the chime. They don't get to refuse. Let me know if you want me to scan the page or something.

FWIW, I get it too. I feel naked without a seatbelt and NEVER ride on the highway or city streets without buckling up - but I also spend lots of time on ranches and forest service and BLM roads, where I regularly need to get out to open and close gates, glass for game, preview what's other side of a sharp rise, etc. Conversely, my wife won't turn it off in her car and I don't even recognize it as a seatbelt reminder. It's just 'noise' that I subconsciously block out, kind of like reggae music. It often isn't until after the chime gives up that I'm able to recognize why I was getting so irritated.

Double check your insurance policies as well. Many will not pay out if at the time of the accident you were not wearing your seat belt.

Yes. Your anecdotal experience doesn't change the fact that seatbelts save more lives than not. But you do you.

"Reliable" is a subjective term. We're talking about a pirated version of the dealer software, and a pirated version of the USB/OBD connector -- both of which are coming from China.

You can purchase them on Ebay. You want Techstream with a miniVCI adapter. Preferably running on an old Windows XP laptop that does not connect to the internet. The prudent recommendation is to run this on a dedicated laptop that you don't use for anything else -- simply because you have no idea if there might be some malware included. Do you have an old laptop lying around?

About the only thing I am going to have a head on collision with on my hunting ranch is a coon. There are legitimate reasons to silent the thing that will not result in the risk injury or death. Even when I don't need a seat belt warning to tell me to put mine on when I am on the street. The lady that ran a stop sign I tboned and totaled my F150 convinced me to wear mine on public streets.

The OP asks how to turn off the beeping not how to remove the seat belts. A beeping noise has saved 0.0 lives in the history of beeping noises. The beeping just annoys the OP and doesn't make him wear the belt when on private land so why be such sharky a-holes. Especially since he says he wears it on the road.

I know this group won't care but I had the same deal. Back seat passenger in an old Ford Bronco II, blew tire at 55mph, flips and rolls through the woods, I get ejected and land on my ass, cut on the chin. Vehicle and driver total loss.

All of those things are just luck. By and large, seatbelts save more lives than lost. To argue against it is literally arguing against factual statistics. I can totally get where someone just doesn't want to hear the chime of their seatbelt alarm while driving on their own property. But to say it's dumb that Toyota doesn't include a way to disable it when their entire existence is around manufacturing safe and reliable vehicles, is dumb in itself. I mean the amount of people that would take advantage of that particular "feature" is so exceedingly small in the total market that it doesn't make any sense.
