I didn't bother. I'm keeping my 07. If it was a 17 then most likely would have pursued that.

I know a lot the people don't like the big towing hitch .but this keep the car far away and the possibility to reach the bumper is minimal.thanks god you and you family are ok .

Have a ‘16 in RI. Guy cut across traffic trying to be quick and cleared first lane, but badly misjudged horizontal across vertical closing time. I couldn’t stop in time from the second lane so I got him in his passenger front fender even after standing on the breaks. He admitted to cops it was a bad judgment in timing, his fault accident. Progressive insurance would not pay diminished value up front, have to sue unfortunately I was told in this state to get them to maybe pay out. Still waiting doesn’t look like it’s going to amount to anything unfortunately

It is inconvenient for sure, but I wouldn't sweat it. A good body shop will have it looking like new again. Glad everyone is okay.

Glad all are ok. Dealing with insurance always sucks, hope it all turns out good.
So many distracted drivers these days. Between these ipod-like displays on the dash, and the phone-addicted kids of today it's a wonder there aren't even more accidents. But I keep thinking, seeing these kinds of photos of newer Tundras, of the 4 times I was rear ended in my 2002 Tundra. Once by a car, and the other 3 times by a truck or full size suv on the freeway in rush hour traffic. NO body damage. 0. Zip. 3 new bumpers, one time bumper straightened and re-chromed. The last time, the car that hit me was a Suburban that noticed way too late that the cars in front were stopping. I was certain that my rear end was a mess, it was a hard hit. We both got off the freeeway (no shoulder there) and stopped on a side street. The Suburban was steaming, and the driver looked at the square hole in his radiator and said "you have a tow hitch...". Oh well, I didn't ask him to hit me. His bumper had slid under mine. No body damage to me, just the bumper, which hadn't mangled enough to even touch the body. I think the hitch + just a basic 1 piece metal bumper on a metal bracket attached to the frame prevented body damage. At least to me. I don't know what these newer Tundra bumpers are like but it looks like they bought into the 'crumple zone' theory a bit more than they did on the first gen Tundras.
