    Meet my wife and kids to eat lunch, on our way back home i got rear ended. My wife and kids were in front of me and hit also . Thankfully the kids are fine. No one was hurt.

    It was a jeep Cherokee. I was in a complete dead stop and he just kept on going didnt even notice until that sound came.

    Glad no one hurt. Totally sucks. I completely know how you feel. My repair was $7300+ and my tailgate was repairable. Your trailer hitch looks somewhat "square" still so you just might have escaped frame damage like I did. You won't know until it's taken apart and measured.

    I let my insurance company handle everything even though not my fault. I notified them and also filed a claim with Progressive, the other party's insurance. Went quite well from finish to end. My deductible was waived since the accident was clearly not my fault. I was a bit out of sorts at first but all is good. My Tunny was 11 years old and ended up with some new parts including a new hitch and bumper. You have a 17 so it's a different thing altogether. Check into diminished value.

    Sorry to see your truck damaged but glad everyone is good!
    There are inherently two types of accidents- those in which it’s completely your fault, and those where it’s someone else’s fault. If I destroy my own property and it’s completely my fault, so be it. But when someone else is distracted, completely clueless and / or endangering other people’s lives, it just pisses me off. At least it’s just the truck that was damaged...

    My service manager at Service King said that a lot folks will file a claim with the at fault parties insurance company thinking their own insurance will go up which is not true. I'd much rather have my insurance company take the lead. That's a service I'm paying for whether my fault or not. I'm with Met Life now and couldn't be happier with them. Hopefully Nevada is not a "no fault" state then everyone gets screwed.
