My 2019 tundra is lemon

Depends on your budget you can go as cheap as 400 bucks or 5k

 

I just did the 6112 and 5160 about 3 weeks ago and spent around 1300 with install

 

And now I need Upper control arms

 

I’m happy that I have some answer. Maybe soon I can start falling in love with my tundra again. She’s been a little unfaithful. And needs her issues to decrease But I feel in due time I can start trusting her again.

 

I'm goin with Camburg they are 545.00

 

But they always come crawling back for gas money

 

But when you slap her on the butt and grab her by her love handles she never says no.

 

I wouldnt worry about the shocks right now. Get some UCAs. Get your alignment fixed and enjoy your truck. Then spend lots of time here reading before you make a decision on what to do next. I would stick with ball joint UCAs and skip they uniballs unless you really plan to wheel. They are a lot more maintenance

 

This is half correct. The issue with alignment is not the spacer.

Its the lack of UCA.

The dealer isn’t going to just give him a UCA upgrade. Dealers screw people over with these spacer lifts every day. Sorry OP, just reality. The good news is you can correct it.

Spacers are terrible because you can’t drive offroad and they ruin your travel.

 

Meh. Saying have the dealership pull them off and put in coilovers is a pretty dramatic response. But whatever. Listen to the nice people on the internet! They are steering you right with the upper control arms. Get ball joint arms. Do not buy the icon steel arms. They don’t work.

 

Hey OP. This is kind of crazy. Reading your original post was all too similar to my experience.

I purchase a brand new 2017 Limited from Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa (Back in Oct of 2017). On my test drive it was a quick loop around the dealership and like you, I was ecstatic for my new truck... Unlike your truck, mine was bone stock with no lift. Just a straight 2017 Double Cab.

Well as the days went on, I noticed many little things that began to bug me (being a former detailer didn't help). Besides the tick tack stuff, my truck was also heavily pulling to the right. It was extremely annoying and tiresome... It did it EVERYWHERE, and if the road had a crown... Forget about it. The constant fighting with the steering wheel was getting to my head. I began to hate the truck.

Fast forwarding, after several attempts at getting the dealer to rectify the situation. Nothing worked. They "aligned" the truck twice reluctantly with no difference. They tried to tell me it was normal. They were so hard to work with.

Anyway, a nice phone call to Toyota North America Corporate sped things up.. They took my complaint on the phone and it was like magic. The dealer called me back begging to fix my problem. They even offered to drive out 45 minutes away to my work to pick up my truck and drop off a Tacoma loaner... Not only did they fix the alignment issues, they took care of several other things that bugged me. Those things were scratched/scuff interior pieces and screws which were touched to install a remote start. Scratched/scuffed bed hooks, and they removed that stupid GPS tracker drilled into the lower dash.. You know that thing with a green blinking LED reminding you that they're tracking you in case you don't make your payment.

All in all, the alignment still pulled to the right but it was very slight and something I could live with.

Cameron, you just answered your own question...... they have your money. Do hang in there as Tundras are the best 1/2 ton on the market. Problem is with the lift. It was done as cheap and easy as possible.

Dealership will really frown upon you if you mention all the advice in the "internet" as all of us know nothing, they know everything. However, I would trust more people on this forum than the dealers, especially with modifications or aftermarket parts.

At times I have thought about a small lift. However after being on this board and reading so much I would not touch a spacer lift, and UCA is a must.

Finding a shop that can do an alignment and know what they are doing is the hard part.......

Toyot will get it right, they are pretty good at getting it solved.

 

When I leveled mine I did the 6112's and 5100's but also did SPC UCA's at the same time.Then it was straight to a alignment shop. I agree on the ball joints. which reminds me, I need to pull out the grease gun.

The mod journey is an expensive one. I did:

Vowed to not mod
Got bored
Spacer lift with coachbuilder shackles
Fox coilovers and shocks (removed spacer)
Icon coilovers (removed fox)
Added icon steel UCA (shit wouldn’t align)
Kings (liked ride better than icons)
Added icon bullet UCA (got a perfect alignment)
Added k37s and total chaos shackles (removed coach builders shackles)
removed k37s (put coachbuilders back on)
Revalved kings, switched to 700lbs springs

Pulled everything off and sold truck sold most everything off.
Bought new truck

Vowed I wouldn’t mod.
Saw rear shock leaking.

Bought ADS triple bypass rear
Bought ADS fronts
Need to buy MCM UCA
Need to get K37s rearched

Put em all on

Probably going to add the MCM rear bumps. I have this magic plan that to buy some longer spare ADS bumpstops and try and use them as a hot swapable air shock for towing.

 

Those UCA’s look maxed out in that picture.

 

I can’t justify the 3” conversion cost. I can rearch my k37s 13 times for the cost of the conversion. I’ll suck it up and deal with them flattening out. But I want to do it.

 

Sounds like me. Spent a ton on my 2018, then Toyota bought it back under a lemon law buyback. Had to pay them to remove everything otherwise Toyota was taking it for free. Sold everything to the owners son at a loss of course. Now I’m vowing not to do the same. Just a coachbuilder pro kit and tires. I do have the SPC’s sitting in the garage, so I’ll probably throw those on. Though I did drop a couple thousand on the sound system. SHIT, I BROKE MY VOWS didn’t I?

 

Yeah that was only the suspension. I failed on many fronts. And am planning on doing it to the new tundra too.

 

What dealership? So we all in Arizona know what dealership not to go to brother. Most dealership unfortunately including Toyota don't care once you buy.

 

No, the Tundra is fine. Whoever did the lift is responsible. You can start a case with Toyota and call it a lemon all you want but they will deny it and rightly so. Not their fault some dumbass didn't mod it correctly. Remember the dealer is NOT Toyota, they are o ly an agent.Take it to whoever did the lift. Tell them to fix it (remove lift or get them to install correct UCA) and it will be fine.

 

This 100% I had the same exact spacer lift on my truck before I decided to go to a 6" lift kit. What I think has happend is the dealer has maybe an issue with there alignment rack or something . The best place I have actually had really good alignments from is a shop that services Simi trucks. They have my truck dead nuts so goo that with my 35s and 12.5 wide tire I can let go of the steering wheel for miles on the high way and it will never pull.

 

Hey OP I know why your truck is pulling and alignment techs are not able to fix it. When the dealership lifted the truck they would have used a spacer under the rear leaf springs to lift the back of the truck. If they didn't get the lift block in the centering hole the truck will be dog tracking and causing the pull. It's easy to miss when the alignment is done because you have to look at the thrust angle and because only the front is being aligned (solid rear axle) techs sometimes forget to check the thrust angle.
