It's definitely nuts here, and as we talked when I stopped by, there is NO real industry here to support all the new residents, let alone infrastructure to boot. So if the small industry that we do have decides to leave there will be lots of down trodden people in the flathead for years to come. Some will leave others will not and try to ride it out. I'm glad we decided to downsize when we did. There is almost nothing below $400k. Also glad that I came here with a sustainable income and will be lucky to retire with it....

I would imagine to see an uptick in petty crime too. It is already happening but will increase

Did you sell your place in WF?

Agreed the little industry we have here, is here for the location...I think the only thing that kept MDF running was the insane boom in construction. And with Falkor/Nomad/Proof, they are skilled positions, but the pay does not relect it. But is still better then most any other places. When we first moved here, I worked for Plum Creek cause it was the best pay/benefits in the area. I would hate to have to go work at Weyerhaeuser even if it is the best pay still in CFalls.

We dis sell our place in WF.....i wont go into details but financially it was a very very good move. We got a place in Kalispell that is smaller and more manageable for us when the kids r gone.

I really just had enough of the attitude that is moving into WF. But it is also trickling out to Kal and CF now. Im sure there r good people out there from Cali, NY, Oregon, TX but we aint getting them and the arrogance is what kills me. And they wonder why no one around here like them......assimilate to the culture or find someplace else to ruin.....

Congrats on getting out of WF...Cfalls is trying to ride that resort bandwagon and its getting old. Granted no way as bad, but definitely seeing those changes. I just like our neighborhood too much to even think of moving.

Can you imagine waking up one day thinking "Man I'm an idiot for buying a half a mil condo in downtown CFalls!"

I was looking at land prices earlier...$110k for .41 acres...WTF

Buddy ... I'd say more than a little OVER priced. I really like that Four Wheel camper, but then saw 29,000 reasons to just slum it in the GoFast for the foreseeable future ... and a 1/2 ton truck wouldn't be optimal for all that weight. I suppose a guy could VRBO that for $200/night here in the Valley though

Nice build! But damn! 76K!!! You’ll have to rent it out to pay for it!

I can't give away my spots (of course), but out here near Missoula they are definitely out! Found myself uncomfortably close to 2 grizzlies already this year... The "adrenaline coursing through your veins" kind of close.

Lived in Great Falls until January when we moved to Idaho….(trust me I miss Montana already…we’ll be back eventually but just had first kiddo and both my parents and grandparents live here now so it’s nice to be near family again)….so here’s a rundown :) Make sure you eat at Smoked (best BBQ in town, get there near when they open to make sure you can get what you want, they generally sell out in the early afternoon. Some of the best brisket around and the pork belly is like meat candy….amazing) and Roadhouse Diner (best burger) while you’re there. Mighty Mo Brewing has great beer, as does MT Pints (Jeremiah Johnson Brewing). Both have good food as well. Black Eagle Memorial Island is a great place to check out Black Eagle Dam from. Rainbow Dam is also cool and nearby. Giant Springs State Park has the fish hatchery and one of the largest freshwater springs in the country, recorded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition. On the way to Giant Springs Park on the same road is the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, a cool place to check out for sure. The CM Russell Art Gallery / Museum is also something to see in town. Unsure if it’s open again yet but there is a museum on Malmstrom AFB just inside the gate. You park at visitor entrance and then you have to check in and do fingerprints and photo before escorted to the museum, but the guy who runs it knows his stuff and is very passionate about it, a great time for sure if you are able as well. Think that’s about it :)

Hell, that wasn't as rampant but has been happening for decades. I recall in the 80s/90s, lived in and had family in the Gallatin Valley and Bitterroot Valley, the same problems existed - NIMBYs moving in, and then starting to not allow access to NF land though property. Got the Sheriff involved on multiple occasions.

I saw that matte black Tundra wide body/prerunner rolling through CFalls yesterday ... I think that was a ~$100k truck that was for sale around here earlier this year, I'd seen it down at Kalispell Toyota a few times. Badass-looking rig.

Im in north Idaho go over to Montana all the time. Glacier is one of my favorites! Been going since I was a kid. Sad to see both of our states get flooded with transplants. Housing is insane and jobs just don’t pay enough to support it here I’m sure it’s the same over in Montana.

The one with the Camburg LT and SC? I saw it while ago too. Popped up for sale again a couple months ago in Sandpoint CL. Awesome looking truck.

Canadian: but I had a place just south of Eureka (south of Glen Lake). I sold it early spring this year because of COVID. Did well on the place but will miss it dearly. I'd move from this socialist country to MT in a second if I was allowed to. The US doesn't want me, that's for sure, just visiting and paying taxes. Someday hopefully I'm allowed to cross into MT/USA again by land, I'm not essential. Luckily I made some great friends and still have a place to stay someday. I can say almost everyone I met down there was polite, kind, and friendly.

    Anyways a beautiful state!

Your prime minister doesn't want us, either ... I'm carrying antibodies and taking Ivermectin, but it's not good enough. I hope you folks can unseat that jackass ... I was really wanting to do my Alaska trip, as well as get up that way for some singletrack moto around Kelowna etc.

Plenty of socialists moving in to MT too, unfortunately. Hang tough ... this shit can't go on forever.

I'm was never that political until this jackass PM got in 5 years ago. I've never seen such corruption and greasiness by a PM in Canada. He's ruined Canada for many generations going forward.
Please cross your fingers that on September 20 he's booted out.

I'm going to fly to Mexico and walk into the US if he wins a majority on September 20. Only half kidding. I know you guys are dealing with a lot right now with your country, hard to watch.

    Thanks for the nice note!

I got a bumper to go along with the grill if anyone needs one...comes with the support, but you would have to reuse you hardware.
