Thanks for the reply, the last oil change I used Valvoline Max Life which was a conventional I believe. I think I’m going to do a change here before winter just for piece of mind and try mobile 1 and change my PCV. I still have yet to drive it for more than 15 min in the last month or so.

Freddie the Fingers, welcome back! What happened, you had to serve two months for a DUI with a contributing to the delinquency of a minor enhancement? Those under age females will get you extra time in the slammer if not careful. Anyway, I did miss the professional hand jobs of which you are so well known. So let the games begin in earnest...:duel:

As you others already stated, your short trips are probably the cause of the milkiness. If you switch to Mobil 1 go with the High Mileage Synthetic formula. You may need to do a couple of 2-3k miles oil changes back to back per the Mobil website as the High Mileage Syn is highly detergent and will clean out all the sludge. Wally Wurl is the best place to buy it usually and Mobil 1 usually runs rebates on top of the Wally price.

Still the uncoordinated Freddie. Don't despair, you are truly making strides there and with a few more years of therapy you will be able to pick your nose just like a normal person. You have to learn to concentrate. Strange, though, that you can be the infamous hand job queen, yet your motor skills being the equal to that of a drunken orangutan.

My previous 4.0 4Runner's cap looked way worse than yours in the middle of winter and my short commutes to work.

Curious what the 5.7's cap will look like with it's first winter with me.

I had 5.7 and never checked but when it was below 40 outside it steamed like crazy out the tail pipe especially when it got below freezing. Always found that weird.

    Just a follow up

I haven’t had time to do anything with the truck due to work being crazy and bought a house on Monday.

but last night I drove a hour to get up to a deer spot to scout for Saturday and drive a hour back. Just checked the cap this morning and it is totally clean. So I’m thinking I got the oil hot enough and finally evaporated all that moisture I had accumulated. :fingerscrossed:

Haha no kidding I figured this would turn into a gas mileage thread soon.

No we had it in the whitetails a few years back. Hair slip was a issues also a few years ago, now we’re just trying to recover from bad winters.

Good on ya. Sounds very similar to what happened with mine last year. Snot on the cap in the fall, wiped it off, and it never came back.

OMG! I’m reporting this to PETA right away. That poor mouse didn’t deserve this death. It should have died in the claws of an Eagle or something.

No maus should go so thirsty as to desperately leap into a coolant recovery tank for refreshment.

In all seriousosity... flush and fill your cooling circuit, yo. Oil floats.

    Whoa! Thats gnar gnar.

I’ll link you over to the Turd Gen Section so maybe they can help. Our 1st Gens never have problems like the newer trucks have. We have to create problems with our trucks around here.

Put this link over in Turd Gen Section and they are all still talking about themselves over there. I don’t think they look at anything unless its someone whining about a scwatch on their truck or lack of technowogy.

True. No one has replied yet. But you are right I feel like turd for having this problem with the truck which has less than 44k original miles on it. I guess it does matter where it is build this was in America not Japan.

Normal Engine Grit from aged coolant. I had some of this in my reservoir tank that coated inside. It didn’t mouse up or bloat like your pics. It was a grainy speckled texture when I flushed the system. Good job on flush and refresh.
