That I couldn't answer for ya. Ur best bet would be to contact sso or someone who has the collision sensor with the bumper installed. Should be able to find at least a couple people with it.

 

Nice, good to hear. It's really an awesome bumper, I love mine. Lightweight, not bulky, looks OEM, and allows for theft proof winch and lights. Plus it's holding up very well in difficult NJ conditions.

 

Nearing what I consider to be a pretty major decision. Looking for any feedback, advice, or opinions I can get before I pull the trigger on a pretty large purchase. Really need to get it right the 1st time.

So heres my truck and the tire that looks like it's going on pretty soon. 35x12.5r17 Pitbull Rockers.


I'm pretty sure I narrowed my search for a rim down to this. It's very light at only 26lbs. Weight savings will be great since tire is 10lbs heavier than now. I defintely want to go different from fake beadlock, like everybody else. Even though matte black might go best, a big part of me wants to go different there too from others. I think this gloss titanium could possibly look great on mgm. Only problem I got the mgm/black theme going with couple red accents. Even my calipers are red. Not sure if gloss titanium would go, especially with red caliper. Can always paint caliper again but rather not. Could also paint the method letters red if I went with matte black. Any thoughts? Gotta decide between matte black or gloss titanium? My gut says rock the titanium gloss as is, leaving calipers red. Just don't want it to look like a regular stock or chrome wheel that might have came on the truck that way.

Also, gotta decide 0 or +25 offset? Love the stance of how 0 offset would look with my fender flares, but the +25 offset would fit the tire better and be better for the little bit of offroading I do. Im pretty sure my steer kit would clear the +25 offset since I confirmed that offset with Icons backspace did. The backspace on this rim is 5.80", the Icon is 5.75", since someone confirmed on a 2nd gen the icon fit the steer kit, I'm guessing the method only being .05" more backspace should fit the steer kit too. Decisions decisions. Does anyone have any words of wisdom that could help in my decision, maybe I'm missing something. Can't help but be curious on aesthetic opinion too.

+25 or 0 offset? This 1 I'm looking for more than just looks. The steer kit could be an issue at +25? Offroad I'm thinking +25 is better? Fitting without chopping the shit out my front bumper would be nice. I already know a bmc will be done either way. I might be able to get away without a bumper shim at +25, pretty sure 0 offset will need it. Not sure if 0 offset can cause more rubbing than on body mount or bumper, ie sid plate or not? Not sure on full compression if +25 will tuck into wheel well, where a 0 offset could bounce the tire up into fender flares? Anyone who might know these answers or even just has an opinion on what mat be best, please fo ahead and let me know. I'm quite possibly not thinking about something where 1 way is clearly better than other. Just looks I like 0 offset. But my whole build has been about function 1st, looks 2nd.

Thank you gents for input. Hey Jim, Im hoping to literally wrap things up later today. So I should be making my big new and improved interior design reveal I'd say this weekend. I can't wait to finish things up and share with all to see.i was gonna get crazy again and try some red and black snake skin hydrodip again. But I think my better sense took over saying sometimes less is more. I think once I get it all blacked out I'll be achieving my desired rugged but refined look. All without crossing that fine line of being over the top or too much, evidenced in my last hydrodip extravaganza.

I'm excited to pull this all together. I think it's gonna look sick. Hopefully this turns out a huge win for me that I can take that momentum into figuring out this tire and wheel battle I'm going through.

 

Which model number are those Methods? They look great. I like the matte black.

Matte black, and go with the +25. That's what offset I'm running. Stance will look great with your flares.

 

U got some stance shots I can see. I know +25 looks great without flares. Seen them on the icons. Got just enough poke without being obnoxious imo. Kinda like the 0 looks with flares. I'm going back n forth on function vs looks. Looks I like the 0 offset with flares, think it's too much without flares. +25 is perfect without flares, not positive on looks with flares.

 

I think a 18x9 w/ +18 looks great with flares on 35x12.5r18. I'm just not sure how that. 5" less rim width plus the more positive offset will look with ff?

On my truck now I have 18x9 stock pro wheels with 1.25 spacer making it go from +60 to like +35. It look pretty good imo but theres times especially looking at the rear I desire more negative offset. But that's only on 295/70r18. They sit just inside flares now. I can't help but prefer a slightly more aggressive stance. I've seen 18x9 methods in +18 on 35s and it's dead even with flares. It looks great but even then could be just a tad more aggressive imo.

 

I was actually thinking wrong. I always have to remind myself that negative offset pokes out more than positive. So yeah, I'd probably go with the 0. The +25 would probably be tucked a little with the flares, and I doubt that's the look you're going for with those big mean tires.

 

Here's +25 without flares, so yeah, you're gonna want to go 0.

 

The 0 offset and those tires being true 35s, if not over a hair, going to need to trim good amount off the body mount. And work bumper plastics.

 

Yeah I figured that. I've brought myself to the point of not being concerned about the bmc. I had to trim/massage the wheel well plastics to fit the 295/70s. I was fine with that because it still looks factory. I doubt even other Tundra owners would notice anything different from it looking like it did from the factory stock. See what I mean.


I just don't want it to look all chopped up like shit in there to fit these bad boys. After the bmc, once I weld and paint the plates it'll look factory so I'm not concerned there. I'm more concerned about the area where the tire will probably rub when turning behind the front bumper in the wheel well plastics and bottom of front bumper. I just don't want to have to cut the shit out of it and not be able to return it's looks back to stock. I'm guessing it'll be in my best interest then to just order the wheels, BMC plates, and bumper shims all 1 shot. That way it can all be done in a day, and hopefully with the bumper shims it'll require less cutting and I don't have to worry about cutting a whole big chunk out the bottom of bumper. That way it still all look factory and I don't have to worry about salt and other debris getting into areas there possibly causing preventable and premature damage down the road like rust.

I think with a +25 offset I wouldn't have to do much besides the bmc. I think the 0 offset is gonna require more than that in those areas behind the front bumper near the bottom. I've seen guys running around with a big hole cut out there giving room for the tire to turn, that's just not my style and I'd like to avoid cutting as much as possible there. I'm not so sure with a 0 offset and these tires there's any way around it. Quite possibly even with the bumper shims because each 1 of 2 is like a 1/4 inch I believe, so putting 2 there is still only gonna move it forward 1/2 inch all together. I guess the saying is no guts no glory though right?

 

Good question, to sum up the answer in 2 words, "no need." If u want to know why, read on, I put that below for you.

The Arb breather kit has a spot to run 3 lines to the filter that I put behind my taillight. It's a standard kit made by Arb for all different vehicles which is why it's setup that way (there's even a pic of a jeep on the box cover for the Tundra) U could run a line for the front diff if you want to 1 of those other 2 spots if it makes you feel better, however imo and the opinion of many others it's not neccessary on our Tundras. The other 2 spots in the arb filter that you could run lines to already run up into our engine bays on the Tundra. If your truck was to get water into your front diff with the line already being ran up that far into your engine bay you got much bigger problems than that lol. Hopefully that not only answers your question, but also explains why.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my truck. But I can think of a bunch of "why or why nots" for the engineers.

Nothing too crazy, but you gotta love the things that don't break the bank, it's the little things. Added a little bling to the door strike plate. Not too sure they will hold up over time, guess we'll see. Also not an exact match to the Toyota red, but it does look better than the plain ol metal door strike. Kept me busy while I wait for my delivery for a much more exciting interior mod.

 

Went from this which I liked, just a bit too flashy for my taste, and didn't go great imo with everything else I got going on inside. Hey I tried.

I think once I'm done with this, the only other thing I want to do is a wrap on the steering wheel. Once I do that I'm pretty content leaving the rest of the inside as is.

Tnx Frank. I love the "shit" knob too lol. It's actually fatter and fits better in my palm, however it's definitely shorter than the Tundra factory. Hence the boot.
